Fox Families and Community,
It is hard to be believe we only have three months of school left in the 2023-2024 school year. We love getting to share our days with your children. They keep us on our toes and highly entertained. March will be a busy month with parent-teacher conferences and spring break. We are looking forward to the days ahead.
Friendly reminder that the playground is closed to the community during our school day from 7:50-2:45.
As a placeholder for your calendars, Cherry Creek School District will administer the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) English Language Arts and Math tests for students in grades 3rd-8th grade. Additionally, CMAS Science tests for students in grades 5th, 8th, and 11th.
Fox Hollow will begin assessments the week of April 1st concluding the week of April 15th.
Please take a look at the Fox Hollow Happenings for upcoming important dates. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
Best,
Melissa Smith
Fox Families,
We look forward to continuing to connect to each of you next week at conferences. Please make sure you have scheduled a time to meet with each teacher. We look forward to sharing with you how much your children are growing this year. I want to also share a HUGE THANK YOU for all of the love and support you show our staff each and every day.
Lastly, please be sure to complete the PTO feedback survey. I have included the link below. We strive to make sure that all we do for our community actually supports all of our kids. We will take the time to read each survey and discuss what next steps we need to do to support our community.
As always if you ever have questions, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you All! From 5th Grade Teachers
Dear Fox Hollow School Community,
We hope this letter finds you well as we reflect on the incredible support we received from each and every one of you during our Penguin Patch event in December.
It is with joy and gratitude that we extend our heartfelt thanks for your participation and generosity. Your contributions helped us achieve something truly remarkable. Thanks to your kindness and support, our fifth-grade tradition of attending Ameritowne has been fully funded.
As we reflect on the success of the Penguin Patch event, we are reminded once again of the incredible spirit of generosity that permeates our school community. It is through collective efforts like these that we can continue to provide enriching experiences for our students, empowering them to learn and grow beyond the confines of the classroom.
On behalf of the Fox Hollow 5th grade community, we extend our gratitude to each and every one of you for your support of the Penguin Patch event. Going to AmeriTowne is a memorable and meaningful experience for our 5th graders. We are truly blessed to have such an incredible community standing behind us every step of the way.
With heartfelt thanks,
Liz Dillon, Amy Vitale, Shelly Ryan, and Ali Lombard

Finn - Our Dream on 3 Kid!
Dream on 3 week is when Grandview's leadership team and school help a child in need fulfill their dream. This year they’re helping Finn fulfill his dream to go to a Michigan football game! Finn is a sweet boy with Down Syndrome and in 2022 he was diagnosed with Leukemia. But, as quickly as chemotherapy started, it abruptly ended as it had caused a debilitating stroke. Finn is a happy boy with lots of loves, but his love of Michigan Football is number 1. Dream on 3 makes sports dreams come true for kids with life-altering conditions. Please send in a donation if you would like to help.

Congrats to our All Stars Ed Babao and Donna Johnson!
Congrats to our nominees that were nominated by colleagues and community!
As the winter months are upon us, please take a moment to read about parking lot procedures.
Drop Off: General drop off begins at 7:50 AM. Always pull completely forward in the car loop when there is space to do so. Students can be let out anywhere after the yellow lines on the sidewalk and not before. Stay in your car at all times while in the car loop. If you need to get out for any reason, please find a space in the parking lot. Remember to always use the crosswalks and not walk between cars. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 AM.
On snowy or icy days, please drive slowly. Students will be given extra time before attendance is taken to enter the building safely.
Pick Up: Always pull completely forward in the car loop when there is space to do so. Stay in your car at all times while in the car loop. If you need to get out for any reason, please find a space in the parking lot. Remember to always use the crosswalks. Staff will not send students to walk between cars to meet you in the parking lot. Pick up is at 2:45 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. *Wednesday pick up is 1:45 PM*
Congrats to our teachers that received CCSF grants!
Volunteer Memo
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you may know the Cherry Creek School District implemented a new Volunteer/Partner Process in January of 2022 in direct adherence to Colorado Legislation regarding Volunteers in our Schools.
The form CCSD Volunteer Registration QR Code must be completed by each person who would like to volunteer in our schools only once per school year. The form should only take a few minutes to complete. The information will then be linked to the Raptor System used at all schools across the District. Upon approval of the form, it will approve volunteer activities in all CCSD buildings.
You will be expected to scan your identification in the Raptor system and wear the badge that it will print for you each time you enter the building.
Definitions:
Volunteers are guests who support students, complete tasks, and are under the immediate supervision and direction of District licensed personnel.
Volunteers are expected to fill out the CCSD Volunteer Registration Form (linked above)
Visitors are guests who are solely entering the building to conduct business such as participating in a meeting, eating lunch with their student, or attending a school sponsored activity.
Visitors are NOT expected to fill out the CCSD Volunteer Registration Form (linked above)
The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority. Every person entering our buildings must have a District ID or a badge printed from the Raptor System.
Thank you for your continued support.

Hockey was a BLAST!
1st – 5th Grade Students learned the parts of a hockey stick, worked on stick handling, passing, and shooting on goal. Students were able to play games that incorporated the specific skills we worked on and they had FUN! Our next unit is supposed to be soccer and I was hoping that the weather would cooperate and we could get outside to play. Depending on the forecast, I might make soccer a future rotation and we will work on something else in the gym!
Kindergarten Students learned two new games focusing on throwing at a stationary object. Individual Pin Knock Down and Team Pin Knock Down allowed students to not only work on throwing, but they also were catching, defending, working as a team, and practiced good sportsmanship!
Intramurals
4th Grade Intramurals are done for the year! These students really did make the most out of their after school time! Remaining dates for 5th Grade Intramurals are as follows:
5th Grade – March 4, 11, 25.

Students have been hard at work in the STEM lab, learning about programming and practicing their skills. Third, fourth and fifth grade students are designing and programming their own video games using Bloxels, while first and second graders are learning to program using the Scratch, Jr. app. Kindergarten is learning how to navigate while using a mouse on a computer, and they are learning important digital citizenship skills at the same time. Please visit the STEM website for more info and to see what we are working on next!
Student Health and Wellness Reminders from CCSD Health Services Department
*More information can be found at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) School and Child Care Settings website CDPHE.
The best way to remain healthy and prevent illness from spreading is through good handwashing habits (washing hands for 20 seconds with soap and warm water after using the bathroom, blowing nose, sneezing/coughing, and before/after eating), getting vaccinated for preventable diseases, and staying home when sick!
Stay home when sick!
• If your student is not feeling well enough to take part in their usual activities due to illness symptoms, they should stay home.
• If your student needs to be picked up from school, have a plan in place to pick them up as soon as possible.
Fever
• Defined as a body temperature over 100.4° F.
• Students may return to school after being 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medication such as Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin/Advil (ibuprofen). Vomiting/Diarrhea
• Students may return to school 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea unless it is caused by an illness that requires them to stay home longer.
• If your student has a medical condition that causes them to have spit-up, reflux, or loose stools regularly, please work with your school nurse to develop a plan.
Cough
• Remind students to cough into their elbow; this helps keep the hands clean and decreases the spread of illness.
• If the cough is severe or uncontrolled, keep your student home
• If a cough lasts longer than two weeks, we encourage checking in with your healthcare provider.
Lice
• Signs of lice: o Itching of the scalp, presence of live lice, eggs attached to the hair shaft, or small pinpoint scabs at the base of the hairline. o If live lice are present, students may remain in school until the end of the school day; however, they cannot return until after receiving an approved pediculicide (lice) treatment per CDPHE guidelines.
• Reminder: lice is a nuisance and not a public health concern. This means it is not a reportable infectious disease, as it does not spread disease. It is not due to poor hygiene habits. We do not send notification letters home to the school community when lice cases are present, unless directed by the public health department. We do not perform routine classroom-wide lice checks.
Vaccines
• Many childhood/school-aged illnesses can be prevented by receiving routine vaccines. Talk with your student’s healthcare provider or school nurse for more information.
Wishing all students, parents/guardians, and staff a healthy school year!
