St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 1 | 22 JULY 2021
We give you praise, O God, for everything that is new and beautiful, for everything which holds promise and brings us joy. Bless us as we start this new term with our friends and teachers. Help us to make the most of every chance we have to start afresh. May we show love to one another and to all. May the new beginning of this school term remind us that you give us chances to start over again and again. Help us to forgive others as we receive your forgiveness. Help us to learn and to work together. Help us to listen when we should and to know the best words when we speak and when it is better not to speak.
Amen
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
I trust that you all had a wonderful school holiday. It's lovely to see the children back, happy and ready for an exciting term.
This morning we held a NAIDOC assembly, where each year group shared a learning journey relating to their Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander curriculum of work. We thank Kerry-Ann Winmar for the Welcome to Country.
Welcome back to Mr Popadynec after long service leave - good to see you back at school Steve!
Our sympathy to the Josephite Sisters on the passing of Sr Maureen O'Connor, the last Order Principal of our school. May Sr Maureen rest in peace.
The P&F's Retro Bingo is fast approaching on 7 August - be sure to book your tickets! It's a great opportunity to dress up and have some fun as a community.
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke

Christmas Fair News
Fair News
We’ve had an overwhelming response to our call for Market stall retailers. We have over 40 market and food vendors coming so the market space is going to be amazing with so many fabulous small businesses and local creatives coming to join us. The fair is going to be your one stop shop for Christmas shopping, so make sure all your friends and family have it marked off in their calendars.
THIS WEEKS CALL OUT
Books and Toys
Who doesn’t love a good clear out?
We are looking for good condition second hand books, toys and games. The P&F plastic tubs will be placed in each classroom so please have a look around your home and donate what you can. We will be collecting them all this term.
Plants
Calling all green thumbs!
We will be having a plant sale at the fair. Get the kids out in the garden and pot up some plants now so they are rooted and ready to sell by November. I ask for every family in the school to donate at least one plant.
Appreciate everyone’s support
