Campo Verde Agriculture Students Visit with SVJH Science Classes
On February 2nd, students from Campo Verde’s Agriculture Program visited with 8th grade science students from South Valley Junior High to teach them about the science involved in agriculture. 8th graders gained hands on experiences with anatomy of a pig and a sheep heart, handling and health of large and small livestock animals, asexual propagation through plant cuttings, floral design, and welding. They also were able to talk with the agriculture students on their experiences with agriculture and discover how agriculture has many practical ties to the science they are learning in class. Both the high school and junior high students enjoyed the experience and gained a wealth of practical knowledge.

2018 USA Nationals Competition
On February 22- 25th, the CVHS Green and Copper Competitive Cheer teams attended the 2018 USA Nationals Competition in Anaheim, California.
Our Green squad competed in the Small Varsity Novice division. Out of 27 teams they achieved their goal of advancing to day two of finals and placed 6th overall in their division.
Our Copper team competed in the Large JV Novice Division and placed 9th out of 14 teams which is a HUGE accomplishment for competing in a very difficult division as well as it being their first time going to a Nationals Competition.
The coaches truly believe that we became a family this season and are looking forward to the bright future ahead. We are so very proud of our athletes and are focused on advancing our goals next season.
Way to go girls and GO COYOTES!

Library information
The bracket for this year’s Library March Madness has been set. These are the 8 new releases that have the most checkouts so far this school year. The competition begins after Spring Break on March 20. There will be two books battling against each other every day until March 30 when the winner is revealed. Students will have the opportunity to participate in our voting every day in the library between 7:15 and 2:45.

Chromebook information
Students should be checking their Chromebooks regularly for updates. A good rule of thumb is to check it once a week. Keeping the Chromebook updated helps its functionality. If a student doesn’t know how to do an update, the steps are shown here. They can also come down to the library for a short tutorial if they would like. Chromebooks should currently be on version 64.

AP REGISTRATION
It is time to sign up for AP tests:
For the 2018 AP exams, current AP students at Campo Verde High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access. Instead of being limited to bookstore hours and having to send your student to school with cash or a check, you will now be able to pay with a credit or debit card (or mail in payment if desired).
This year each AP exam costs $98.00. Campo Verde High School desires that every student be able to take their AP exams. Students requiring financial assistance that qualify for free or reduced lunch should contact Sarah McManus in the counseling office as soon as possible.
Online Exam registration will begin on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 12:00 AM and end on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 11:59 PM.
In order to register, students should visit:
https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/030696 to register.
To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed or saved the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.
Please contact Sarah McManus, sarah.mcmanus@gilbertschools.net , if you have any questions.

Summer School Registration Information
Gilbert Public Schools Community,
For the 2018 GPS Secondary Summer School Session we will be changing the registration procedures.
In previous years, registration was done through Community Education and their online system. This year we are moving registration to work within Infinite Campus, using InTouch. Moving to Infinite Campus has allowed us to work with the school counselors to create a system in which Summer School recommendations come directly from your child’s counselor.
This year, in order to register for a summer school course, a request will need to be placed with your child’s counselor. That counselor will then suggest the course in Infinite Campus and place the course fee suggestion in the Parent Portal for our InTouch payment system.
Parents will receive an email that the course has been suggested and that they can then find it under the Highland High School (location of 2018 summer school) tab in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to pay for it. Once payment is received, the student will be registered for the course and a confirmation email will be sent.
Registration opens March 21st, however, students can visit their counselor and request classes prior to that date. Payment and registration cannot be completed until March 21st.
For more information please visit our webpage: Summer School Information
If you have any questions about the Secondary Summer School process please email us: summerschool@gilbertschools.net
If you have any questions on what class is best to take for your child this summer, please contact your child’s school counselor.
