CONFIRMATION REFORMATION SUNDAY '24
Worship & Announcements
WEAR RED!
October 27, 2024
I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts;
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.~Jeremiah 31:33
Today we celebrate these children of God who make public witness of their faith and affirm what happened to them in baptism, namely that they were clothed in Christ himself and will live forever!

Celebrate Today
Rooted in the past and growing into the future, the church must always be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world. We celebrate the good news of God’s grace, that Jesus Christ sets us free every day to do this life-transforming work. Trusting in the freedom given to us in baptism, we pray for the church, that Christians will unite more fully in worship and mission and we pray for our confirmands as they proclaim their faith!

Weimar Altarpiece by Lucas Cranach the Elder and his son Lucas Cranach the Younger between 1552 and 1555 for the Church of St. Peter und Paul in Weimar, Germany.
Altar in church in Germany depicts Lutheran legacies: Christ as the center of our lives. To the right John the Baptizer is pointing to Jesus, Luther points to Sola Scriptura, and in between is the artist Lucas Cranach the Elder, humbly washed by Christ’s blood.
CELEBRATE OUR LUTHERAN HERITAGE AND LEARN ABOUT THE REFORMATION THIS OCTOBER!
From our prayers, we are moved to help those affected by recent hurricanes.
Upcoming Commemorations
Simon and Jude, Apostles Monday, October 28, 2024
We know little about these apostles. Simon is listed as "the zealot" or Cananean in New Testament lists. Jude, also called Thaddeus, asked Jesus at the last supper why he had revealed himself to the disciples but not to the world.
Reformation Day (ALL HALLOWED DAY'S EVE=Halloween) Thursday, October 31, 2024
By the end of the seventeenth century, many Lutheran churches celebrated a festival commemorating Martin Luther's posting of the Ninety-five Theses, a summary of abuses in the church of his time. At the heart of the reform movement was the gospel, the good news that it is by grace through faith that we are justified and set free. Reformation Sunday is always before All Saints and All Saints Sunday. On this day in 1517, Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses starting the Reformation movement. Many Lutheran churches also celebrate Confirmation in light of this specifically-Lutheran festival.
All Saints Day (ALL HALLOWED DAY) Friday, November 1, 2024
The custom of commemorating all of the saints of the church on a single day goes back at least to the third century. All Saints Day celebrates the baptized people of God, living and dead, who make up the body of Christ. On this day or the following Sunday, many congregations will remember the faithful who have died during the past year.
