Principal's Newsletter
2/2/24
November 22, 2024
Dear Wildcat Parents,
As the weather begins to feel more like winter, we want to remind you to dress your child in appropriate clothing for outdoor activities. Students will continue to participate in recess unless the temperature drops below 32 degrees or there is inclement weather. Please ensure your child is prepared for the colder temperatures.
If your child is missing any items such as coats, hats, or gloves, please encourage them to check our lost and found. You can also take a moment to look through the lost and found when you visit the school for a special lunch with your child.
Additionally, a reminder that there will be no school from November 27th to 29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We hope you enjoy this time with your family and, as always, encourage you to take some time to read with your children over the break.
Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a wonderful holiday season!
Warm regards,
William Miller,
Principal
Make Up Picture Day 12/12
Inclement Weather
If weather conditions pose a potential hazard to students, school officials may dismiss students early, delay the opening of schools or close schools for the day. If conditions require the closing or delayed opening of schools, decisions are usually made by 5:30 a.m. The most reliable sources of school closing information are the school system's 24-hour information line and website. The 24-hour information line is 301-934-7410 or 301-932-6656. When possible, decisions are made the preceding evening. Charles County Public Schools also uses its notification system, School Messenger, to send email notifications and text message alerts to parents with a valid email address and an opted-in cell phone number from their child's emergency notification card. Television and radio stations are also notified; however, they do not always report the most reliable information.

Important Food Allergy Information Form
If you’ve noted a food allergy on your student’s emergency card, we kindly ask that a diet modification form be filled out by your child’s healthcare provider. This little step is super important—it ensures that our food services team flags your student’s account correctly, so they can enjoy breakfast and lunch without any worries about allergens. Let’s work together to keep our students safe and happy during mealtime!
Dismissal Information
Any changes to a student's daily dismissal arrangements must be made in writing and indicate who is picking up the student. The person picking up the student must present their photo identification. Any adult picking up a child must be on the emergency card, or we will have to make a phone call asking the custodial parent on the emergency card if the person has permission to pick up the child.
If there are any changes to a student's normal dismissal procedures, you should email the front office staff and the child's classroom teacher. You should email Nicole Sackett, nsackett@ccboe.com and Maritza Davis, madavis@ccboe.com along with the teacher about any changes.
Birthday Celebrations
When bringing outside food items to school for a student's birthday or as part of a classroom celebration, bring store bought, individually packaged treats. Treats that are homemade or not individually packaged with nutritional labels will not be served to students. Each grade level distributes birthday treats differently, so please make arrangements with your child's teacher ahead of time. Additionally, teachers can only distribute party invitations at school if there is an invitation for each student in the class.
Medications at School
Students may not transport medication to and from school; parents/guardians can drop off medication during school hours. Additionally, a completed and signed medical authorization form must be on file in order for medication to be dispensed. Please contact Mrs. Powell, school nurse, with any questions or additional information.
