We had a lovely kick off for our SALT (Serve. Appreciate. Love. Teach) program at school mass this week. Students from every grade level participated in the procession while carrying signs and saints related to their grade's SALT focus. Father Jim had the kids bring up the photos of the saints during his homily, and we all learned a lot about the saints and their ties to each focus. This SALT program is one of the unique, and most rewarding aspects of being part of the CSSE community. Our students truly gain a deeper understanding of service in the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching.

As a reminder, fall Parent/Teacher conferences are required. Teachers have already sent out sign ups via SSC or email several weeks ago. If your child is not participating with you during your conference time, they must wait outside the classroom door. They may not wander the school building or playground, nor may they join the Aftercare students.

Bring your pets for a blessing on Friday, Oct. 4th! All creatures must be caged or on a leash (and bring a bag for cleaning up any "presents" left behind). Please wait until carpool pick up ends before walking over to the northeast church lawn with your pets.

Trunk or Treat Volunteers Needed! - PTO is looking for families to participate in Trunk or Treat. Please email pto@steugeneschool.org! Thank you!

Homeroom Parents Needed - PTO still needs homeroom parents for 8th grade and 6th grade. They also need an additional homeroom parent volunteer for Mrs. Wilson's class, Mrs. Hamilton's class, and Mrs. Schmidt's class. If you are interested please email jennyblevins@gmail.com

Eagle Basketball Clinic - Starting October 16th, on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm to 5:30pm there will be a preseason basketball training clinic opportunity. Wednesday will be 4th & 5th grade. Fridays will be 6th - 8th. It's a preseason clinic so there is no fee to participate. Please fill out the clinic sign up form if your player wants to attend. CGSAA basketball sign ups are also open.

The Catholic School of St. Eugene integrates service into our curriculum through the SALT Program. Each class focuses on one service topic each year, integrated through activities, speakers, and an all-school service day in the Spring.

This September our 5th graders showed love for our older friends by decorating and giving out beautiful cards to our grandparents after mass on Grandparents Day. We also had the opportunity to introduce our topics at the all school SALT Mass on the 26th. Father gave our program, students, teachers, and volunteers a special blessing for a year full of service for others.

Landen Skinner, Davey O’Donnell, Addison Collins, and Joss Lupp (not pictured) all participated in the OKC Tae Kwon Do Championship this month! All placed first in at least one of their events for their belt and age category.

Alex and Felix Pinto love attending Mrs. Whitmire's art camp every summer! They each entered a painting they created at Art Camp in the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair Junior Arts competition, and both won ribbons!

Five Dollar Free Dress Fridays - Students in grades K-8 may opt to participate in a $5 Free Dress Day at school on certain days by paying $5 per student per Free Dress Day. Send cash or checks to school in a marked envelope to your child's homeroom teacher by the designated day for each day your student participates (or pay for all days in advance). Please send money with each sibling to make it easier on teachers as they collect and mark down who has paid. Free Dress guidelines still apply. Those who do not wish to participate should wear their normal uniform. We are also happy to accept additional donations for our School Support fund!

The third annual Together in Holiness marriage enrichment conference is on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Nichols Hills, OK. Together in Holiness is a marriage enrichment initiative that inspires couples to grow together in holiness and empowers and equips parents to form their children in the Catholic faith.
