Holiday Themes for the Week
For a little holiday fun, this upcoming week we will have holiday themes each day for student and staff attire.
Monday, December 16th - Wear your favorite flannel or ugly sweater
Tuesday, December 17th - Candy Cane Day, Wear Red or White
Wednesday, December 18th - Spread the Light, Wear sparkly or bright clothing
Thursday, December 19th - Grinch Day, Wear Green or Holiday Headwear (Santa hat like the Grinch, antlers like Max or a Who hairstyle)
Friday, December 20th - Wear Pajamas as we celebrate excellent student behavior for our 2nd quarter PBIS celebration during specials
Winter Concerts
3rd-5th will have their concert on Tuesday, December 17th.
The concerts will start at 6 in the Rocky Point gymnasium. Students should "dress to impress" and should arrive no later than 5:30 pm. All families must enter through the main entrance.
Thank you to all the students and families who joined us for our Kindergarten through 2nd grade Winter Concert. We had 55% of our Kindergarten students attend, 60% of our 1st grade students, and 65% of our 2nd grade students. Congratulations to Ms. Tidler's 2nd grade class who had the highest class percentage of attendance out of all 10 Kindergarten through 2nd classes with 76%.
It's Book Fair Time
The Book Fair will be on Monday, December 9th-Tuesday, December 17th. Students will be able to visit and shop during their Media Center special day and before school. Families can shop the book fair before the Winter Concerts on the 17th from 5:00 pm through 8:30 pm.
Don't want to worry about sending cash with your student! There is a Book Fair eWallet. You can set it up on the Rocky Point Book Fair website or through this QR code.
End of the Second Nine Weeks
Friday, December 20th marks the end of our second nine weeks. Please ensure that your child has turned in all missing work no later than Thursday, December 19th.
Winter Break
Friday, December 20th is also an early release for all Pender County students. Pre-K students will dismiss at 10:50am and Rocky Point Elementary K-5 students will dismiss at 11:20am.
Rocky Point Elementary School will be closed for students and staff Monday, December 23 through Wednesday, January 1st. Teachers will return on January 2nd and students return on January 6th.
Rooms for Family Connection
If you have not connected rooms, our district communication system, you will be receiving a text invite this upcoming week. Please help us reach 100% of our classrooms with communication with families. We are currently only at 11 out of 19 classrooms that have 80% of their families connected through Rooms.
Pender County Schools Family Campaign
Pender County Schools is proud to support the United Way of the Cape Fear Area’s Family Campaign, helping fund over 40 nonprofit organizations in Columbus, Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender counties. Last year, these programs impacted more than 52,000 lives through grants for education, financial stability, and health. Christmas Help
Saturday, December 14th is the 5th Annual Free Christmas Shop. This event is a Christmas shop for families that may be in need of a little help with gifts this holiday season. Registration is required.
