A MESSAGE FROM MR. BOWEN
Happy November Teeland Families,
This past week, our teachers participated in some great training from an EduProtocols leader who visited our school from out-of-state. You may remember that I briefly mentioned this training at our open house back in August.
EduProtocols are structured instructional strategies that teachers use to help students learn content in a predictable and engaging way. If your child mentions activities like "Fast and Curious," "Thin Slides," "Iron Chef," "Thick Slides," "Sketch and Tell," or other oddly-named lessons, these are likely examples of EduProtocols in action. These are fun, interactive ways for students to learn.
As we move forward, you may see more of these types of lessons as our teachers try new instructional approaches and choose to integrate EduProtocols into their teaching.
On another note, we've noticed that some students have been coming to school in clothing unsuitable for the current cold weather, such as crocs, shorts, and skirts. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, as we still need to conduct emergency drills during the winter months.
Additionally, we have many students who have built up large balances in their school lunch accounts. If your family is struggling financially, please fill out a free and reduced lunch application. This could make your child eligible for free or reduced-price meals, and it also helps our school qualify for important Title I funding. Click here to apply.
If you have any other needs, such as assistance with activity fees, sports physicals, school supplies, or winter gear, please reach out to your child's counselor or a school administrator. We want to work with you and our community to provide the best educational experience possible for your student.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Sincerely,
Brandt Bowen
