Foundation for Music Education Mark of Excellence Competition
Several PISD bands and one orchestra have been recognized by the Foundation for Music Education for their entries in the Mark of Excellence and Citation of Excellence projects.
The Mark of Excellence project seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs, and orchestras. The Citation of Excellence project seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by non-varsity high school and middle school bands and orchestras. The projects gather hundreds of entries from throughout the United States and provides valuable feedback for all entrants, which allows ensembles to compare and compete against other outstanding groups from across the country. Ensembles are judged by nationally known adjudicators, with the top 25% being named as National Winners and the second 25% named as Commended Winners. WGHS National Art Honor Society Raises $1K+ for SPCA
WGHS NAHS is proud to show how their gifts and talents have served the community. Through their efforts in “Staff Pet Portrait Paintings” they were able to raise over $1,100 for their “2023-2024 Gift of Love” donation to the SPCA. This would not be possible without the support of staff members who request and pay for a beloved pet portrait. We have already begun this years portraits and look forward to exceeding that amount for 2025. Students have painted pets of all types including spiders, reptiles, horses and other furry friends. Here are just a few examples of these amazing pet portraits.
