The Loker School Scoop! 3-25-25

Tuesday, March 25, 2025
Dear Loker School Community,
I hope that you had a great weekend! Last Friday, we had the pleasure of having the Wayland Middle School Honors Chamber Orchestra, Select Chorus and Jazz Band visit Loker and lead a special performance for our grades 2-5 scholars. It was wonderful to see so many Loker Alumni returning to Loker to model what these musical programs look like at the Middle School!
I also want to highlight our fifth grade "Loyalists" vs. "Patriots" debate in fifth grade on Friday as part of the scholars learning about the American Revolution. I was really impressed with the public speaking skills and enthusiasm displayed by both sides of the debate in demonstrating their deep knowledge of this important historical content.
Lastly, ELA MCAS begins next week. As a school, we try really hard to prevent our scholars from being stressed about it while fostering an environment where our scholars will provide their personal best and demonstrate determination and resiliency. In our conversations with children, we focus on what the school can learn from the MCAS results within our future instruction with each grade level. For example, if questions related to multiplication had strong results but questions related to volume were more challenging than this would inform the teachers on areas of focus for the following year. The best things that you can do at home to support your child is ensuring that they get a good night's sleep prior to MCAS, a breakfast that will fill them up and positive reinforcement about giving your best effort so the school use the information for future instruction. As a reminder, this year's MCAS schedule is at the following link: 2024-25 Loker MCAS Schedule
Have a terrific week! Thank you for your continued partnership.
Best,
Brian
