School-Wide Theme for the Year
At St. Joseph Catholic School, each and every day we are training students to be missionary disciples, and learning to recognize God in our lives and in the world around us,
with hearts full of CHARITY for our fellow man.
Our Mission and Vision Statements
Mission:
St. Joseph Catholic School provides students with a nurturing and prayerful learning environment committed to academic excellence, training missionary disciples to seek virtue, wisdom, and truth, in partnership with a community of active and faithful families.
Vision:
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Worth are committed to opening the doors so that our students can reach further than the walls that would otherwise enclose them and therefore are able to recognize and cherish the eternal and transcendental goods of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
Motto:
Teaching the Mind...Nourishing the Soul
From the Principal
During my reading of "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas à Kempis, humility is a common theme throughout. He writes, "Humbly, then, let us submit to God's dealings with us, when any temptation or trial comes, it is the humble soul He will set free, and lift up to greatness." Humility reminds us that we are under the watchful eye of our Lord and that we are to place our trust in Him. He knows what trials we are to encounter for our spiritual growth. He alone knows our future. This truth is something we Christians fully understand. Why is it then so hard to be humble? If we are promised to be lifted to greatness, why is it that we forget humility? Do we not see value in being humble? There are many temptations and worries in life to veer us off course and cloud our thoughts. God is asking us to remain focused on Him, to remain humble, to recognize His love for us, His plan for us, and our call to love one another, not to be clouded by arrogance.
In Christ's service,
Diane Price, Ed.L.
Principal

8th Grade Student of the Month Award Recipients
Our August 8th Grade Student of the Month: Matthew Horton (son of Mrs. Horton)
Matthew is fun loving and friendly. He is not afraid of work or to laugh at himself. He is grade conscious and always comes to class ready to work. Matthew is very studious. He is also very active in classroom discussions. He volunteers to help around class also. Matthew is very gentle and caring for others, not just only students friends in class but anyone asking for help. He is always joyful with a big smile on his face. Matthew is President of the Student Council. He enjoys sports and hanging out with his family.
Our September 8th Grade Student of the Month: Alondra Gomez
Alondra is a very giving and caring person. She volunteers whenever anything needs done. She is studious and works hard to maintain excellent grades. She is a diligent student who completes assignments thoughtfully and on time. She is willing to help in the classroom and friendly to everyone.
While she excels in various sports and clubs at school, outside of school, she nurtures her
creative side through her love for art, reading, and music. Her passion for drawing and painting
allows her to express herself, and her love for books fuels her curiosity and imagination. Music
plays a special role in her life, and she finds personal meaning in how she connects with it, often
using it as a way to reflect on her experiences and emotions. Alondra is a wonderful big sister!
Congratulations to Alondra and Matthew! Thank you for being beautiful examples of what it means to be missionary disciples.
Frassati Medal Award Recipients
Congratualtions to Wen Nanyingah for this special award! At lunch, one of his classmates dropped their entire lunch. Wen stayed to help pick it up until the job was done. Thank you, Wen, for your kindness to others. You are serving as an example for all. We are extremely proud of you!
The Beatitude Wen exhibits is "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
Congratulations to Weston Kerschen for this special award! During P.E. class he showed a beautiful example of giving of himself. He saw a new classmate struggling with a task and offered to partner with him to help him learn the skill. He gave selfishly of himself and is a great example to others. Thank you, Weston Kerschen, for helping spread the word of God through your actions.
The Beatitude Weston exhibits is "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

Dia de los Muertos
Our upper school students under the watchful eyes of our Spanish teachers, Mrs. Ricciardi and Mrs. Kuzma, created a beautiful ofrenda for the school community to remember our loved ones who have departed this world.
All Saints Day Procession
All you holy men and women, pray for us! What an awesome sight! We had more than one hundred Knights dress as their favorite saint in celebration of All Saints Day! We pray our saints felt honored on this Holy Day of Obligation. God is good!
Honoring Our Veterans
This past Monday, we gathered under the flag pole to honor our veterans on Veterans Day. Thank you to the students and faculty for leading us in this special moment. God bless our veterans!
Knights in the Classroom
Well done, young Knights! Keep learning about the wonders of God to evangelize to the world!
In Mrs. Rusnak's second grade Religion class, students participated in an Atrium presentation of the Sacrament of Baptism. Students learned the words, form, and other materials used in the Sacrament of Baptism. Beautiful!
And the Atrium presentation of the story of The Good Samaritan.
Fr. Ronaldo and Fr. Peter enjoyed the beauty from the hands of our first grade Knights for they made replicas of monstrances displaying the Holy Eucharist. How special!
5th Grade Science Investigations
Our fifth grade Knights look forward to Mrs. Seed's Science lesson exploring owl pellets and the task of dissecting them and graphing their findings.
Altar Server Ministry
Please enjoy the following images of our students giving of themselves to the school and parish community by serving at Mass. What a special way to give back to others and to serve the Lord.
Adventures in Art
Calling All Artists!
Library Life
Hamburger Plant - Our first Junior Master Gardener learning activity! In this activity, students considered how the ingredients found in hamburgers all derive from plant sources. People need plants to survive. Students enjoyed building hamburgers during Enrichment time.
Many Mystery Readers have visited us in the library these past weeks! Thank you to each one - the students greatly enjoy seeing you and hearing your stories.
Knights in the Greenhouse
Many thanks to the Ozuna Family for their generous donation of time and energy in the greenhouse this past month. Thank you also, Ozuna Family, for the herb garden donation - absolutely beautiful!
The cooler weather is finally here! Several class groups enjoyed time in the greenhouse recently, digging for treasure and watering the herb and strawberry beds.
What a busy month in the greenhouse! Our school’s greenhouse is a beautiful example of cross curricular, hands-on learning. By utitilizing the greenhouse, students are making unique connections. They witness how plants grow, learn about human nutrition, and grow in spiritual well-being.
Broccoli (2nd/3rd), Spinach (Kinder), and Arugula (1st) sprouts are growing in the greenhouse! Students will have the opportunity to diagram the parts of a plant and make a nature sketch in the greenhouse in the coming weeks. We look forward to watching our greenhouse garden grow during the fall and winter months of the school year.
Lego Club
First Semester LEGO Club is off to a great start! Students built a town or city where people would want to live. Nice airports, gardens, and neighborhoods, builder Knights.
Earning Upper School Service Hours
Our Upper School students are earning service hours by giving back to their school community. Well done, Knights!
Fun in P.E.
Robotics Program
Our RoboKnights have built their base model robots! Keep up the good work, RoboKnights! We look forward to what you accomplish this academic year.
We Love Our SROs!
