⭐⭐ News from the School Adjustment Counselors ⭐⭐
What is Group Therapy?
Group therapy can be very beneficial for adolescents due to the social aspect and feeling supported by others their age. Group therapy is a supportive environment for individuals to work on the same goal, share similar experiences, and receive validation from others in similar situations. Group therapy sessions are led by a mental health professional and will focus on learning various skills. The group population, topic, size, and amount of sessions held are decided by the mental health professional running the group.
Below is a local resource that was shared to the MHS counseling team that will be starting in February. There are other resources available for group therapy in our area, however various offerings can be limited at times. If you feel that group therapy might be a good option for your student do not hesitate to reach out with questions to your students school counselor or school adjustment counselor.
