Term 4 Week 1 Tuesday 15 October 2024
Principals Message
Welcome back to school everyone. We have had another very positive start to the term with students straight back into their learning. I am always impressed in the way our students settle in and love helping each other. Demonstrating our school values is important to us and it is lovely to see when visiting each classroom and out in the playground.
Last term we had many activities and events that gave our students a wide variety of opportunities and ways to show their gifts and talents. This term is no different with Ag Day, athletics, the cultural festival, and towards the end of term students will have the opportunity to study an area of interest to each individual class.

Property Update
Our property work went well over the holiday break. The roofing and CCTV upgrades were completed and we continue to make progress on our car parking area.
The weather has slowed things down a bit but we are on track for the upper car park to be ready before the end of year. Over the break the majority of the drainage has been installed and filled over again.
You may notice the large dug out area by the teacher’s carpark. It looks a bit extreme at the moment but that is going to be the new pathway up to the upper carpark. It is not necessarily how we envisioned it but there are engineering and regulations that have played a big part in its design. This area will be planted out to improve the aesthetic.
After School Care Assistant Required
We require an assistant for our After School Care service. We will require you to work from 3pm to 5.00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on a casual basis and on other days when required.
This is a paid position during term time and could extend into next year.
If you are interested and want to know more, please contact the school office on 4346765 or office@kokopu.school.nz

All children are required to wear hats while outdoors this term as part of our sun safe policy. Hopefully the sun will come out soon. 🌞

Term 3 House Day Quiz
Well done to Kea House for winning this year’s House Quiz competition at the end of term 3. The points are getting close for the Hibbert Shield at the end of the year.
School Gates
Parents, please ensure the gates into the school are shut at all times.
We need them shut after school, as there are still children at After School Care until 5.30pm.
Ag Day Flower Show Craft Day
On Friday 1st November before Ag day, all students participate in a craft-making day.
This is a full day activitiy. Please don't take your chidlren early.
· Students make their way around the classrooms and complete all the crafts.
· These crafts are judged by staff and displayed in classrooms for families to view on Ag Day.
· Students may receive a certificate for their activity.
o Blue - Great quality and creativity
o Gold - For exceptionally high quality or creativity
o These awards go towards the overall
· Parents are welcome to come and be parent help. This year parents are asked to help in a set classroom/activity. This is so that there is enough help in each class to get through all the activities. Please fill out the School App parent help notice.
· We would like parents not to follow their children around but to assist all students
· All creations are to be made at school on Friday, not at home.
· The focus is for kids to enjoy the making process themselves and the more they do themselves the better for the fairness of judging.
To see a list of making day activities, what to bring and the criteria please go to our ag day website.
Please note, there are changes and updates from previous years.
