New Format for New Teachers' Orientation
Annually, we provided our probationary staff a series of workshops during New Teacher Orientation for three days prior to the start of the school year.
The Administrative team recognizes that sometimes the start of the school year for new staff can be challenging. This is why we were very excited that this year's New Teacher Orientation had a new format:
We met with new teachers for two days prior to the start of the new year, and with returning probationary staff for one day. There will be a remaining five 1-hour workshop during the course of the school year. This new schedule of sessions will allow us to support probationary teachers with various job responsibilities over the course of the school year.
To see the schedule please click here.

Keep Calm
We know how stressful things can be trying to balance home and work life. For the past two years, the Special Services Department in collaboration with Nassau BOCES and led by Dr. Schimpf acquired the Calm app for all staff members who expressed interest in utilizing it. Currently, Clear Stream and Shaw Wellness rooms have the app if you would like to try it.
The app is designed to assist with meditation and sleep. If you are interested in getting the app, please click here.
Important Reminder - CTLE Registration - TEACH
Starting on July 1, 2016, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) required that educators who had a Permanent or Professional Certificate to register with the state every five (5) years. Registration is done using the NYSED TEACH system.
This is a reminder that if you have one of the following certificates, you should have registered with TEACH:
Permanent or Professional certificate
Teaching Assistant Level III certificate
Information about registration and continuing teacher and leader education (CTLE) is available here.
If you have questions about this process please contact Marcela Moran, HR Department, at mmoran@vs30.org or call (516) 434-3600 X 5010.
Talking about CTLE: Is it CTLE, Credits or Both?
We recently sent a communication to all staff members regarding the Credits for lane changes. These are different from CTLE credits. See the below:
