COLLEGE CAREER CENTER
COLLEGE CAREER CENTER IS CLOSED
Monday, September 23rd through Monday, September 30th. Mrs. Arico and Mrs. Shafer are attending College Counselor Conferences during this time.
COLLEGE REP VISITS
College Career Center welcomes Juniors and Seniors to attend in-person College Rep Visits which continue through October in the CCC. A full schedule is available on SchooLinks and all students MUST have a signed Teacher Permission Slip turned in 24 hours prior to the event to attend (even if they do not have a class during the time of meeting). Permission slips for October 1 College Rep visits can be turned in at the Counseling office during this week. Instructions on how to sign up to attend, and to access the Teacher Permission Slip can be found here https://pvphs.pvpusd.net/apps/pages/CCC-CollegeRepVisits Colleges are still in the process of signing up for times to visit Peninsula so make sure you check back regularly. All Rep visits are students only.
CAL STATE APPLICATION WORKSHOP
Class of 2025 come to the CCC on Tuesday, October 1st during lunch for the CSU Apply Workshop. CSU Application opens October 1st so make sure to be here to ask any questions you may have. Bring your own computer and make sure you know your social security number.

Parents are invited to a Q & A session about college testing on Saturday, September 21st in the CCC from 9:15A to 10:30A. Torsten Sannar National Managing Director of Compass Prep will be here to answer your questions.
COLLEGE NIGHT

Seniors: The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) will not open until December 1st. The application year you want to use is 2025-2026 (the year you will be attending college). Make sure to check college websites for their financial aid application deadlines.
COUNSELING OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Reminder: October 16th Peninsula High School will be hosting a PSAT for Juniors and Sophomores. Registration will be Monday, 9/23 - Wednesday, 9/25 in the Student Store. The test will be free for all Juniors and $20 for Sophomores (cash or check made out to PVPHS-PSAT will be accepted). Please contact Dr. Jennifer Panagos (panagosj@pvpusd.net) if you have questions. More details will follow with the schedule for the day, room assignments, and all other instructions for students that register.
The students listed below were recognized as National Merit Semifinalists. These academically talented high school Seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. About 95% of Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship. We want to congratulate these students on their accomplishments and wish them good luck.

Sketchers Walk 2024
Panthers, it's time to lace up for the 16th annual Skechers Walk! Every year, our district unites to raise thousands of dollars in support of our 18 PVUSD schools and vital programs. As one of our biggest fundraisers, this walk directly funds incredible initiatives like the SMERT Building, the College & Career Center, the Science Fair, and so much more. If you can’t make it day-of, no worries! You can register as a virtual walker and still support our district. Let’s rally together and make this year our best yet. Register today!

Come to the fieldhouse on Tuesday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. to watch Coraline. Concessions such as popcorn, baked goods, and hot chocolate will be sold, so bring some money for food, drinks, and remember to also bring blankets and pillows to get comfortable.
