Introducing our School Council
Last Friday, Years 1 - 6 voted for their new School Council. We created a polling station in the hall and pupils placed their votes just like we would in a voting booth! A couple of members were absent today so we will provide a photo of the full council shortly.
Digital Leaders
A number of pupils are taking on leadership roles this year. In addition to the School Council, Prefects and Happiness Heroes, we also have Digital Leaders who help with all things ICT and the school Play Leaders who help at break and lunchtimes.
Low Ash 'Food Bank'
School are setting up their own mini 'food bank' this year so we can help even more families in need. Staff have been donating food items and toiletries for quite some time now to help families in need but, with the cost of living crisis, even more of the school community need your help. Therefore school is looking for donations. If you are able to donate, please deposit any food items in the food trolley (see below) which will be in the main playground before and after school from Monday. Toiletries are also appreciated.
Below is a list of items which would be greatly appreciated:
-dried food such as pasta / rice/ breakfast cereal/porridge
-canned food including canned fruit/beans/pasta
-tea, coffee, squash
-long life shelf goods such as UHT milk or biscuits/confectionery
-toiletries such as toilet paper / toothpaste/soap/ shampoo and sanitary items
Donations will be made into parcels for those in need.
Year 4 Geography Trip
Year 4 had a wonderful time in Ilkley on Wednesday on their Geography fieldwork trip. Next week, Year 1 and Year 2 will undertake their Geography fieldwork in the local area.
Commando Joe's
Some of our Year 5s have been continuing to enjoy the Commando Joe's programme as part of their enrichment afternoons. Commando Joe's involves a range of team building activities and encourages resilience and perseverance.

World Mental Health Day
As it was World Mental Health Day yesterday, we re-launched our My Happy Mind mental health curriculum with the module Meet Your Brain. Ask your child to explain all about their Hippocampus, Amygdala and Prefrontal Cortext - I'm sure you'll be impressed! It was lovely to see pupils dressed in their bright colours to make the world just a little bit brighter. The 'prize', however, for making the most people smile was Mr. Whitaker!
If you would still like to make a donation to Young Minds to support this cause, please use the following link. Donate | Help Young People Get Mental Health Support | YoungMinds
Forest Schools
Forest Schools continues to be extremely popular, even in the wetter, colder weather. A reminder to please make sure your children have a suitable outdoor coat for this activity and wellies/walking boots. They may well get muddy on this day, so please don't send them in anything new or expensive!
Sport
Well done to the U11s girls' football team who took port in the North Bradford girls' football tournament yesterday. Great effort!
