Dear Parents/Carers,
This week kicked off with some of our Key Stage 2 children travelling to Sherburn High School for a STAR mat Tag Rugby competition. While we don’t yet know the outcome, the children came back tired but happy, having had a great afternoon.
On Tuesday, the Blue Cross came in to talk to the children about being safe around dogs. This is part of our risk assessment for having the school dog Bobbie in, and we will update this message each year as appropriate. All of the information is available to parents, so please get in touch if you would like a copy.
Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been completing assessments in reading, writing and maths. This week, the staff have been collating the data and sharing the information with school leaders who have felt reassured by the teacher knowledge of the children and the plans for next steps and interventions.
The panto on Thursday was a roaring success. The children thoroughly got into the swing of it. So much so that I thought I had gone deaf when I left the hall! We have plans to go to the theatre next year so will be looking to book this in the New Year.
Finally, a huge thank you for all of the donations for the school Christmas fair. It was a great event and lovely to see so many of you there.
Best wishes for a great weekend,
Mel Walmsley
Headteacher
Attendance
This week's attendance is 97.43%
School Dinners
There are an increasing number of children who have not had lunches pre ordered for them which causes delays in service and upsets children who are not getting what they would prefer. Please ensure all meals are booked before 8am in the morning. If you are having difficulties, please let the office know so that we can help rectify this.
Thank you
Lost Property
The lost property pile is a mountain yet again. To help conquer this, please ensure all items are clearly named with your child's name (removing any old names in them) to help them be reunited with the correct child. Anything remaining will be sent to the charity shop in the last week of term.

Message from Head Pupils
It has been an exciting week in school this week. Firstly, we were lucky enough to watch a pantomime of Dick Wittington, which everyone really enjoyed. This evening is the school Christmas fair. The children and staff have all been working really hard to set up stalls and raise as much money for school as possible. We hope you have a good weekend and we will see you on Monday!
Head pupil awards go to James (YR) and Willow (Y4).
Bella and Ollie
It has been fabulous to see how hard everyone is working to improve their maths skills. Teachers are seeing a real difference in class following this hard work so well done everyone! This week's winning class is Newton class who worked incredibly hard and this means they retain their position at the top of the league. One week left everybody, who will win next week?
Our lucky raffle ticket winners were Oliver K and Hector T. Well done!
