School News (NEW)
Dear Sunnyside Families,
We are all really excited for the auction tonight and looking forward to celebrating our community and raising money!
A couple of reminders:
School opens at 8:30 AM for breakfast and students can enter through the cafeteria door at that time. They do need to stay in the cafeteria until it is time to meet their teacher outside.
Before and after school there is NO supervision on the playground. Please know this area is Portland Parks before and after school hours and therefore no school supervision is available before or after school by school staff.
8th grade families, save the date for 8th grade promotion on June 13th. More information is coming soon.
5th grade families, there will be a 5th grade promotion on June 14th in the morning.
This week was another fun and busy week here at Sunnyside. Middle School went to Bull Run, Reed Cooley Gallery, and on a walk around the neighborhood to do some mapping. Our 4th grade had a Warm Springs Elder visit to talk about Celilo Falls as part of their Celilo Falls storyline and 1st grade went to Experiment PDX.
We are certainly feeling the end of the year energy and are busy making the most out of these spring days.
Thanks for all you do!
Eryn

8th grade speeches have begun (NEW)
Each year as our SES 8th graders prepare to leave for high school, they must complete a portfolio of assignments designed to help them think both retrospectively, prospectively and introspectively. One of those assignments is a speech that talks about something they believe.
On Tuesdays and Fridays during middle school morning meeting, 8th graders are delivering these speeches, starting at 8:45am.
You can find the schedule of speeches here. The schedule does change, so please be sure to check for updates regularly if there's someone you really want to see. (Note: No one is allowed to exit or enter the auditorium when a speech is in progress; please show up on time.)

Report cards are complete and are available on ParentVUE. Middle School report cards have been sent to the printer, and will be mailed when ready. Elementary report cards are not being printed; if you would like a printed copy, please email Jenny at jethomas@pps.net and request that one be sent to you.
