Groundhog Day
Mrs. Norton's class learned about Groundhog Day. The class made predictions on if he will see his shadow. We collected the data and made a pictograph showing the information. Great job, 1st graders!
4th Grade STEM
4th grade students used VEX kits to design and build a small car that could safely transport an "egg" as its passenger. They followed the design process, which involved brainstorming ideas, creating prototypes, testing their designs, and making improvements.
The challenge was to ensure that the egg would be protected during the car's journey, so students also had to create a restraint system to keep the egg secure. Throughout the unit, students applied critical thinking and problem-solving skills, learning about engineering concepts like stability, impact protection, and testing. This hands-on project helped students understand how engineers use the design process to solve real-world problems.

DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY NEWS
Care Solace
Dear CASD Parents, Guardians, and Families,
I am very pleased to share with you that the Coatesville Area School District will begin offering a free mental health and substance abuse counseling service referral system to connect our students, their families, and our employees and their families, to services – as a way to make finding help easier and faster.
Thanks to grant funding, the district has begun a relationship with a care services connector called Care Solace that specializes in helping people navigate what is often a very complex mental healthcare system.
Care Solace does not diagnose or provide treatment, but they will quickly connect you with a licensed professional who can. Care Solace takes on the lengthy intake process so that you don’t have to call multiple providers and walk through the same process each time. Care Solace counselors will connect you with providers accepting all kinds of insurance, including Medicaid, Medicare, and sliding scale options for families without insurance. All information shared with Care Solace is completely confidential.
You can access Care Solace services by calling 888-515-0595 at any time. You can also visit the Care Solace website at: caresolace.com/casdschools or you can access the homepage for the CASD website, www.casdschools.org to access the Care Solace Link.
Multilingual support is available 24/7, every day. Once you reach out via phone or online, a Care Companion will:
• Discuss what services you child or any member of your family might need
• Secure an appointment for you so you can begin services
• Follow up with you to make sure progress is being made
This service is completely optional and is provided at no cost. Several school districts across the state have a partnership with Care Solace. If you need immediate assistance in the event of a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
If you have any questions about this service, please contact your student's guidance counselor or building administrator. You can also reach me at snyderm@casdschools.org.
Sincerely,
Michele Snyder
