Two teams of gifted and talented students are reaching for the stars with NASA!
As part of the Gifted Resource Center at the High School, the teams have produced designs that are among only 20 chosen nationally for the NASA zero-gravity prototype design challenge.
For the last few months, the teams have been voluntarily coming to Mrs. SueEllen Thomas’ Gifted Resource Center during their RAMS Flex time to design their own concepts of a paddle wheel prototype for water and weightlessness based on NASA’s very strict guidelines for microgravity testing!Next, the teams will create their prototypes and send their test objects to NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland for testing. After evaluation of the experimental results and teams’ reports, a small number of top-performing teams will be invited to present their results in a student poster session at the 2025 American Society for Gravitational and Space Research meeting. These teams will be announced in mid-May of 2025 so stay tuned!
Pennridge starts its first-ever Robotics Competition Team
With a passion for increasing our STEM programs, PHS has had a Robotics Club for a year now, but, after student leaders took the initiative, Pennridge now has its first-ever Robotics competition team!
FIRST Robotics is the Premier League for Robotics Competitions and the Mid-Atlantic division leaders were so impressed by our students' passion and talent that they awarded the team $7000 in grants to start their rookie season. Students from our new team as well as Frank Farrell from First Robotics were celebrated at the meeting.
