COUNSELOR'S CORNER
5th and 6th Grade Information:
On March 12th, Ms. Adamo taught another character education lesson to the fifth grade. This month’s lesson was on communication tools to use when solving a conflict or problem with friends, classmates, and family members. Students were provided with a handout called, “The 9 tools for difficult conversations,” and Ms. Adamo discussed each tool, when/how to use it, and along with typical situations where these tools can be used.
On March 18th, Ms. Adamo taught another character education lesson to the 6th grade. This month’s lesson was another class on conflict resolution strategies. Students were provided with scenarios, and they had to determine which strategy was best to use in each scenario. We also discussed the positives and negatives of utilizing the strategy.
With both grades, the main message was teaching the students that they need to be calm when addressing a conflict. If they are angry, that will escalate the conflict further. Students were reminded to see Ms. Adamo if they are experiencing a conflict. It is recommended to talk through the issue before trying to address it themselves.
8th Grade Information:
If your child(ren) will NOT be attending NVOT in the fall, please fill out this form, and return it to me by May 9, 2025.
Lastly, please ask your child(ren) to notify me if they receive an acceptance letter and/or an interview for any school they’ve applied to.
7th Grade Information:
If you or your child is considering applying to a private or Catholic school for ninth grade and would like to learn more about the application process, please contact Ms. Adamo to schedule a meeting.
All Grades:
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s academic, social or emotional needs, please contact me at adamoj@nvnet.org or 201-664-1475 ext. 2203.

If you order lunch from an approved vendor for delivery, please make sure the vendor knows your child's first and last name and grade level.
