Ready for the 2024-2025 School Year!
District News
Mr. Cumpston
Welcome back to another exciting school year! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer break, and you're all as eager as we are to kick off a fantastic year of learning, growth, and achievement.
I am excited to announce that starting September 3rd, our school will be implementing a new e-funds system for school lunches. This new system will make it easier for parents to manage lunch payments if they choose to do so. More information on how to set up your e-Funds account will be provided shortly, so please keep an eye out for updates.
In addition, we will be holding a community meeting on September 4th at the Elementary school to discuss the facility audit. This is a great opportunity for the board to hear input and get feedback on the future of our school facilities. Your participation and feedback would be appreciated, and I encourage you to attend.
As we begin this school year, I want to express my sincere hope that it will be a positive and productive time for everyone. Our staff is dedicated to providing the best educational experience possible, and with your support, I know we can achieve great things.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school community. I look forward to seeing you at the community meeting and throughout the year!
Let's have a great year!
Josh Cumpston
Meet Our New Staff
Sydney Anderson
I am Sydney Anderson. I grew up just outside of Geneva and graduated from Fillmore Central in 2018. I went on to play softball in college at UNO and Hastings College. I graduated from Hastings College in May of 2023. I spent the last year teaching math at North Platte High School as well as being an assistant coach of their softball team. I will be getting married this summer and am excited to be moving back home.
I am looking forward to contributing to the success of the school and programs that influenced me to become who I am today. I am also excited to teach in the same district as my mom who is currently a 2nd grade teacher at FCES. Impacting lives in a positive way has always been a goal of mine, and getting the opportunity to do it at home is super special.
Brittany Becker
Hi Panthers! My name is Mrs. Becker. I am looking forward to moving back near my husband’s hometown and joining the supportive Fillmore Central Community this fall as one of the Special Education teachers at the middle school. This will be my 15th year in education. Previously I taught math, worked in special education and most recently in high school athletics. I have a passion for helping students discover their potential and reach their goals.
Making memories in every aspect of my life is important to me. Outside of school you will find me spending time with my husband, Roger, and our young son, Paxton. Sports, especially volleyball, are a big part of my life. I’m excited to continue my coaching career at the middle school this year. My family and I enjoy asparagus hunting, barbecue competitions and of course, Husker games.
Fun fact: I was born in England!
McKenzie Scheil
I am a recent graduate from Wayne State College, where I earned my masters and my undergraduate degree. I was on the Wayne State Track and Field Team for 5 years. My favorite event was the hammer throw! I spoil my two dogs endlessly, their names are Nyxx and Dash.
I graduated from Fillmore Central in 2017, so I am very excited to return to the community that I grew up in. I look forward to meeting students and working closely with their families and the community. I can’t wait to work alongside some of the same teachers who taught me and helped me grow and become the person I am today.
In my free time I enjoy reading, riding motorcycles, and hanging out with my friends and family and the dogs.
Morgan Segner
I grew up on a small farm near Hebron, Nebraska and graduated from Thayer Central High School. My husband Jared, and our two boys Kamden (4) and Paxton (1) currently live in Cordova. I graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with my Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Education and have been teaching at Shelby-Rising City for the past 6 years. Teaching 7th and 8th Grade English will be a new adventure for me but I am looking forward to the challenge and broadening my horizons!
I am really looking forward to building new relationships with my students in the classroom and working with some amazing colleagues. I am excited to be in a community that is closer to my home and my boys! I know that Fillmore Central will be a great place to spread my wings and try something new.
I love to be outside whether that is chasing my boys in the backyard or on the farm. During the summer you can find us at the Zoo, at the pool, watching baseball, or at livestock shows. When I have free time to myself you can also find me reading a book with a cup of coffee or helping my mom and sister with our small business.
Three fun facts about me are: my Favorite snacks are Dr. Pepper and Peanut Butter M&Ms, I’ve never broken a bone in my body, and this summer I’m going on a missions trip to Nigeria.

High School
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! Where does the time in the summer go? It seems like just yesterday we were wrapping up the 2023-24 school year, but here we are again. At any rate, here are a few items to keep in mind as we kickoff the new school year.
Staffing
For the third year in a row, we do not have any changes to our staff. We have a dedicated staff that loves working with kids, and that is such a huge asset when it comes to teaching. Our staff is great at building relationships and I feel that every single one of our students has at least one, and most likely multiple teachers that they are able to connect with.
E-Sports
The board of education approved the addition of an ESports team at the high school for this school year. Fillmore Central will be competing in the fall session and Mr. Schwartz will be the sponsor this year. This is an exciting opportunity for our students this year. More information will be available once school starts.
ICU
This year will mark the 4th year that we will be using the Power of ICU program. As a reminder, this program is essentially a communication tool designed to help ALL students complete ALL assignments with quality, and in a timely manner. This program is not perfect, but it has made a positive impact on student learning and I am excited that we can continue with the communication tool.
Second Chance Breakfast
We will once again be offering breakfast between first and second period each day. This opportunity has been well received by our kids and we are happy to be able to offer this program.
School Supplies
As has been done for the past several years, all necessary school supplies will be made available to students.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
GO FC!!!
