We had a great turnout to our Popsicles with Principals. Mrs. Stevenson and I enjoyed meeting our new Falcons and seeing our returning Falcons on the playground! The SSE staff returned from their summer break this week. We have had an amazing week of professional development and are getting SSE ready for our Falcons.

For Meet the Teacher night this coming Monday, August 12th, I highly encourage all families to bring their child's school supplies. This will be one less thing to have to remember on the first day of school! All parents and guardians of elementary students will be able to view their students’ teachers beginning Monday, Aug. 12. These will be accessible in Skyward Family Access. If you need assistance with your login on August 12, please contact Alice and Trina in the SSE front office at 940-497-4035 and they will be able to assist you. With this access, you will be able to add money to your child's cafeteria account, check grades, view progress reports, report cards, and their attendance.

On the first day of school, here are some important times to know!

• 7:15 am - Our doors will open and breakfast will begin being served in the cafeteria.
• 7:30 am - Our teachers will be ready to welcome you into their classrooms at 7:30 am.

Beginning on Thursday, August 15, we will start our routine of students entering school in the morning and going straight to the cafeteria for breakfast OR heading into the gym to get prepared for our morning assembly.

At SSE, we love having families join us for lunch! Please give us these first three days to establish routines and procedures. We will be ready to have you join us for lunch starting on Monday, August 19. In Lake Dallas ISD, we do ask that you only eat lunch with your child(ren) and only provide food for your child(ren). Look for the designated Family Lunch tables in the cafeteria for you to use when eating with your child(ren). They are the tables closest to the entrance on either side of the doors.

As an educator and a mom, I highly encourage your child to wear tennis shoes and bring a sweater or hoodie! Our playground is quite large and there is lots of room for students to play and run. You will also not have to worry if it's a PE day! Some of our rooms can be a little chilly at times. Please label your child's sweater or hoodie and avoid the lost and found.

There will be a lot more traffic on the first few days of school so please give yourself extra minutes and do not stress about tardiness these first few days. Most importantly, we want all of our Falcons and their families arriving safely. Starting Monday, August 19 we will begin entering tardies for all students arriving after 7:40 am.

We are here to partner with you as we work together for the success of your child. It's going to be a great 2024-2025 school year!

Shady Shores Elementary will host a Meet the Teacher event on Monday, August 12. The event will last from 5-7 p.m. and is come and go.

• Families with last names starting with A-L will attend from 5-6 p.m.
• Families with last names starting with M-Z will attend from 6-7 p.m.

Meet the Teacher is a great time to sign up for your P.T.A. membership and purchase spirit shirts. You will also be able to pick up car tags to be used in the car lines at dismissal and put money on your child's cafeteria account for additional items such as snacks, cookies, or ice cream.

Have you completed the Free and Reduced Meal application for the 2024 -2025 school year?! This application must be completed every year. If your child is a returning student, you can apply in Skyward Family Access.

Information about how to apply can be found here. We have also attached a flyer that gives more information about the benefits of the program, with one of the most important benefits being SCHOOL FUNDING. Even if your child does not plan to eat meals provided by the school, qualifying will help our school! Please apply today!

Lake Dallas ISD now uses Stopfinder, an all-in-one, easy-to-use app for viewing and sharing your student’s transportation schedule. An invitation to activate your Stopfinder account will be sent to first time users via email. If your student is a returning student and you already have the App, try resetting your password. If you have any questions regarding your student's schedule, please send an email to LDtransport@ldisd.net or call (940) 497-4026.

What the App Can Do:

• View your student’s daily transportation assignments – including stops

• Securely share your student’s schedule with caregivers

• Receive notifications and updates related to transportation

How to Install the App:

The Stopfinder app is available to download in the App Store as well as Google Play

Access Student Schedules:

Stopfinder is available anytime for Stopfinder Subscribers. View your student’s schedule from your mobile device. Share student schedules with caregivers and family members and view announcements and notifications in the Stopfinder Message Center

Access to student schedules is granted only to the student’s designated contact by the Transportation Department. The Stopfinder contact, at their own discretion, may share their student’s schedule with caregivers (sub-subscribers).

We LOVE having dads, grandpas, uncles, etc... at SSE during our day! To be a WATCH D.O.G.S., you can volunteer many times or even just 1 day. We appreciate extra help in our car line in the mornings and at lunch. Or volunteer on your child's birthday and make their day extra special!
