Wow, we are almost to Thanksgiving Break. We have a short school week ahead, ending with a minimum day on Wednesday.

As we prepare to gather around the table this Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of you. Your trust in AME and the values you instill in your children—respect, kindness, and appreciation—make our school community truly special. Thank you for sharing your wonderful kids with us! 🦃 A big shoutout to our amazing families for your continued support and partnership with Michelson! Together, we are creating an amazing environment for our children.

I also want to extend my appreciation to our dedicated AME staff and our incredible partners in education, including MPC, the School Site Council, local law enforcement, our fire department, VUSD Board of Directors, Maintenance department, transportation department, District Office Staff, community organizations and our superintendent, Tom Hoskins. The Tye-Dye Leadership Squad is spreading holiday joy to our servicemembers through special care packages. Thanks to a generous donation from the Native Daughters of the Golden West, the team purchased supplies to create care packages for PFC Trey Wood, a Michelson alumnus currently serving as a Paratrooper Medic in the U.S. Army, and his fellow soldiers. These thoughtfully assembled boxes will help brighten the holidays for Trey, his troop, and his roommate as they continue their service far from home.

At AME, Buddy Time creates valuable learning opportunities across grade levels. This week, Mrs. Stephens' TK class collaborated with Mr. Nunn's fifth-grade students on clay projects. Teachers at AME regularly facilitate these cross-grade partnerships, recognizing their educational value. During Buddy Time, students not only learn new skills but also develop important social connections. The younger students benefit from personalized attention and peer learning, while the older students strengthen their leadership abilities and sense of responsibility as they guide their younger schoolmates.

Mrs. Fleck's class has been thoroughly enjoying their ceramics sessions. Tim Smith, our amazing ceramics teacher, continues to inspire both students and staff with his engaging art work. His expertise and enthusiasm for ceramics shine through in every class. Ceramics has proven to be a valuable addition to the elementary school curriculum, offering students a hands-on creative outlet that develops both fine motor skills and artistic expression. The joy of working with clay is evident in the bright smiles that light up students' faces as they shape and mold their creations, making it clear that this program is having a positive impact on their educational experience.

Calling all Sport's Sponsors! Michelson Parents Club is looking for Sports Sponsors for the 2025 Calendar year. Sponsors help provide necessary sports equipment, matching and updated uniforms, and more to the students of Michelson Elementary. Unless otherwise notified, all meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at the District Office. Until further notice, the Open Public Session will commence at 4:00 PM., and after roll call, agenda approval and public comment the Board President will convene to Closed Session. Open Public Session will re-convene at 5:30 PM.

The boys basketball team's hard work this season is clearly paying off. Coaches Bowlin and Eggleston have brought solid expertise to the program while building strong connections with our players. The team has responded well to their coaching style, showing steady improvement at practices. Their dedication and progress suggest we're in for a promising season ahead. Go AME!

Important Reminders For Student Drop Off & Pick Up

• Children may only be dropped off and picked up in the Feeney Park parking lot.

Serious safety concerns have arisen, relative to the morning drop off line. If you want to walk your child to the stairs, please park your vehicle in a parking space. Do not stop your vehicle in the drop off line and exit the car to walk your child to the stairs.

• In order for a safe and speedy morning drop off, your child must remain in the car until

you reach the first place in line. Mrs. Martinez or other Michelson personnel will safely assist your child as he/she exits the car. Do not allow your child to exit your vehicle until you reach the first
place in line.

• All students must walk up the stairs to the playground. Remind your child not to climb

the hillside.

• All vehicles (except those bearing “Disabled” placards) are prohibited from entering the main

Michelson School parking lot to drop off and/or pick up children.
