Attendance
School attendance is very important. Did you know that students with good attendance are 4 times more likely to graduate high school than those who are chronically absent?
Chronically absent means missing more than 2 days per month (this includes vacations!)
This year, please help us provide the best possible education to your child by sending your child to school every day, on time. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's attendance, please let us know. We are here to support your family.
What you can do to support your child's attendance:
Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before
Don’t let your child stay home unless they are truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomachache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
Contact school staff or community partners to find resources around transportation, housing, employment, or health care.
Thank you for the Friday Staff Breakfast
Thank you to families for the First Friday Breakfast treats! It’s such a wonderful way to start the new month, especially this one! We know how much work goes into putting this together, and staff feel appreciated and recognized every month! Thank YOU!

Student Verifications
Way to go Bridlemile families! 90% of our families have completed their student's yearly verification in ParentVue. For those that have not yet completed this district required task, remember that you cannot access Parentvue until it is done and you will not be able to view your student's report cards until you have completed the process. If you need to find your student's ID number to order school pictures, you will also not be able to get that information until you complete the process.
- Go to parentvue.pps.net
- Click on the blue tab 'Yearly Verification'
- Click 'Verify Online'
- Click 'I am a parent'
- Log in to your account
- Click the black tab at the top that says "Online Registration/Yearly Verification/Transfer Application"
- Then click on "2024-25 Yearly Verification" Box
- Follow the prompts
From Mr. Chaney in the Music Room
It has been a great start to the year! It has been wonderful getting to know all the amazing students and the community.
Band and Strings are back at Bridlemile! There was a lot of interest with 20 students signed up for Strings and 60 signed up for Band! These are amazing numbers and it speaks to the strong traditions and values at this school. We started meeting this week and the students are very excited! The Band is being split into 2 groups. Band A will meet on Wednesdays and Band B will meet on Fridays. The Strings will stay as one group and meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Note: Band and Strings programs are offered at 4th and 5th grade.

Plan to join us in October for a movie night at OMSI!
PPS is hosting a series of events that focus on Belonging, Equity & Inclusive Practices where we will screen powerful, award winning documentaries that will stir, provoke, and challenge each of us about what is possible in the systems we create for our children with disabilities. Staff, Parents, Community are all invited.
Plan to join us in October for a movie night at OMSI!
As part of this series, we are excited to welcome you to a live virtual event, Including Samuel, on Monday, October 28 at 5:30 PM at OMSI Empirical Theater. The event will include a screening of Dan Habib’s film, “Including Samuel,” and a conversation with him and his son, Samuel.
The film chronicles the life of the Habib family after Samuel is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and explores the family’s journey of hope and perseverance as they battle cultural and systemic barriers to inclusion. Featured on NPR’s "All Things Considered," "Good Morning America," as well as in the Washington Post and the Boston Globe, the film recently won the Positive Images in Media award from TASH, an international group committed to the full inclusion of people with disabilities, and the “Excellence Award” from Superfest International Film Festival in Berkeley, CA. You can learn more about Dan Habib’s work on his website (https://includingsamuel.com/).
Staff, families, and community members are all invited. Parking is free and light refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
