Message from Mrs. Sheppard
Happy Friday!!
We had an amazing field day this past week!!! I was so excited for our students. They seemed to have a really great time. Thank you to Mr. Ingram for a well-planned event. Please remember that the district is offering FREE summer programs. There is a link in this newsletter to sign up for them.
The Literacy Bus will also be hitting different schools throughout the district this summer. Please watch our facebook page for information on that and I will also post on DOJO to remind you. The best advice I can give to you for summer is to make sure your child reads for at least 15 minutes each day. It really does make a difference when they return to school. It is also just a nice way for them to relax and enjoy a good book. We are also sending home summer workbooks for students in PreK-4th grade. There is an incentive for them to return them at least 75% complete!!!!
Please know that I check my email all summer and DOJO as well. You are welcome to reach out to me that way if there is anything that comes up and you need to get ahold of me. After school gets out on June 7th, the building will not be open until August. You will need to email or DOJO message me to get in touch.
Please be sure to read through this newsletter carefully so that you are aware of things happening at Graham. Please know that you can always reach me by email or CLASSDOJO if you have any concerns or questions or you can call me during school hours. If you would like to meet with me, I would ask that you please make an appointment with my secretary, Mrs. Harper. You can also email me or send me a message on Class DOJO to see if I am available to meet with you.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Sheppard

May is MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
- Parents/Kids: If you are a parent or caregiver, talk to your kids about their mental health. Getting help during the early stages of mental illness, or at the first signs of mild behavioral health symptoms, can help those symptoms from developing into more serious conditions.
- Older Adults: If you know an older adult who may be experiencing bereavement, illness, or isolation, watch for clues and ask how they are doing during visits. CDC data shows that suicide rates are on the rise, especially among adults ages 65 and older – so it’s critical to recognize the warning signs so we can offer help.
- New Mothers: If you know someone who is pregnant or recently gave birth, check to see how they’re feeling. About 1 in 8 women report symptoms of postpartum depression in the year after giving birth – so it’s quite common and nobody should feel embarrassed or hesitant to reach out for help. But if left untreated, maternal mental health issues can lead to devastating consequences, including pregnancy-related deaths, such as suicides, drug overdoses and other unintentional injuries.
June 7th is the last day of school!!! Dismissal is at 12:20 pm
June 7th will be our last day of school. Please be aware that after 12:20 pm NO students, staff members or family members will be permitted in the building due to construction beginning.
June 6th and June 7th
Please be aware that there will be NO BACKPACKS or school bags allowed on the last two days of school. All items from school will be sent home on Wednesday, June 5th.
IPADS/CHROMEBOOKS COLLECTION: Please return to school ASAP
