Are You Subscribed to Receive CSD News?

CSD Weekly to Distribute the DVA Weekly Update Beginning September 5

Beginning next week, Thursday, September 5, 2024, the DVA Weekly Update will be distributed via CSD Weekly from the City Schools of Decatur email. Parents and subscribers who have not opted out of CSD news will automatically receive CSD Weekly. However, parents and subscribers who have opted out of CSD news and community members will only receive future school newsletters by subscribing here and selecting to receive news from “City Schools of Decatur.”

CSD Weekly includes links to all school newsletters and provides the latest district news, enabling families with students at multiple schools to conveniently access updates using one source. Additionally, CSD Weekly aims to improve consistency in messaging about district and community news by communicating it in a centralized location.

September Meet-Up: Connect with School Staff

Please come and chat with some CSD school staff. We have invited select staff from Beacon Hill Middle School and Decatur High School. Our Athletic Director will be in attendance with some teachers and leaders. Learn about CSD Athletics, Young Ladies of Excellence or just visit with a special teacher. If there is someone you would like to visit with email Ms. Whatley and we can invite them too. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Are you taking an AP class? Plan for the AP test now!

If you are taking an AP Class that is offered at DHS, follow the instructions from your GAVS teacher for signing up and registering for the exam. The AP Coordinator at DHS is Ms. Karina Green.

If you are taking an AP class that is not offered at DHS, then you will need to follow the instructions linked below to find a testing location for your AP test (You can start by checking with Druid Hills HS). Fees are determined by each individual testing location. These courses include:

September 2: Labor Day Holiday (GAVS Closed)

September 4,5,6 CogAT testing for grades 3 & 6
September 3: Last date to begin AP courses
September 12: Last date to register for Fall September 12 End of CSD Add/Drop period

September 16: Last date to begin Fall courses September 23-27: Classes are in session

(CSD Fall Break not a break for GAVS)

September 23, 24, 25: Students have check-in
October 11 and 14: GAVS Fall Student Holidays Students have check-in
November 25-29: Thanksgiving Holidays
