From The Administrator
Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful achievements and events that have taken place in our school community.
First and foremost, I am thrilled to share the success of our recent production of The Wizard of Oz. The performances were nothing short of spectacular, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of our students, teachers, and volunteers. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this musical a memorable experience for all.
Additionally, I am proud to announce that our Book Fair was a tremendous success, raising over $10,000! This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without the enthusiastic participation and support from our entire school community. The funds raised will go a long way in enhancing our library resources and supporting literacy programs.
As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your dedication, support, and involvement in our school. Your contributions make our community stronger and more vibrant.
Wishing you all a happy and restful Thanksgiving holiday. May this time be filled with joy, gratitude, and cherished moments with loved ones.
Warm regards,
Chad Schraufnagel

LEGO TEAM COMPETES!!
Best of luck to our three FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams who will be competing soon in regional tournaments. Team members have been preparing for several months - collaborating, coding, researching, and problem solving - toward a solution to this year’s FLL challenge, “Submerged”. In fact, their challenge was to use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring their learnings and ideas to the surface as they “sea” into the future.

Dear Lake Country families,
I hope the school year is going well. With the holidays quickly approaching, I would like families to be aware of some opportunities for assistance. Families can receive holiday assistance from either Lake Country School's Caring and Sharing OR The Christmas Clearing Council. If your family is experiencing financial hardship please reach out to Mrs. Thurin, School Counselor. To set up a meeting at conferences to discuss these opportunities, please email me directly at thurinh@mylakecountryschool.org.
Lake Country School can assist with obtaining necessary winter gear either through donations or with verifying financial assistance for Lake Country Caring.
Lake Country School's Caring and Sharing can, in a confidential manner, arrange for holiday gifts to be available for you to pick up here at school.
The Christmas Clearing Council has assisted hundreds of families with holiday gifts through their program. If you are in financial need of holiday gifts, you can fill out an application for assistance at: http://www.christmasclearingcouncil.org/application. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
If you are not in need of assistance, but would like to help other families, please click on the following link to sign up to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0C4BADAD2FA3FD0-53284913-caring
Caring and Sharing could not happen without the LCS community’s generosity and support for fellow families.
Sincerely,
Heather Thurin

Strategies to Make Homework Go More Smoothly
Homework has been around as long as public schools have, and over the years considerable research has been conducted regarding the efficacy of homework practices. Besides contributing to academic success, homework can help teach children how to take responsibility for tasks and how to work independently. Homework helps children develop habits of mind that will serve them well as they proceed through school and through life. Specifically, homework helps children learn how to plan and organize tasks, manage time, make choices, and problem solve. All of these skills contribute to effective functioning in the adult world of work and families. Homework also helps parents stay involved with their child’s education.
We encourage parents to help and assist their children to follow a nightly homework routine. Below are some recommendations from the National Association of School Psychologists. If you have further questions please reach out to your child’s teacher. CLICK HERE FOR HELPFUL HOMEWORK ROUTINES
If you have further questions, concerns or need to collaborate about your child’s education or social/emotional/behavioral health; please reach out to your Student Support Team.

WELLNESS CORNER
The Lake Country School District promotes a healthy school environment for students and staff through education and awareness, and by providing and promoting healthy options and opportunities. The Lake Country School District will practice and promote good nutrition within the school setting. Students who practice good nutrition attend school with minds and bodies ready to take advantage of their learning environment. Eating habits are learned early in life. Therefore, the School Board, administrators and staff support a school environment that promotes and encourages lifelong nutritious eating habits.
When sending a school snack with your child, please consider sending only healthy options. Great ideas are: apple slices or other fruit & vegetables, raisins or other dried fruit, cheese sticks, applesauce, baked crackers or pretzels, granola, or Google "smart snacks for schools list".
Sugary birthday treats will not be consumed in the classroom. If they are brought to school individually wrapped, they can be sent home with each student. If the treats are not individually wrapped the parent/guardian who sent the treat to school will be contacted to pick them up.
Find a list of treat ideas on our school website at:
www.MyLakeCountrySchool.org > About Lake Country School > School Wellness
