Second Semester Update
We’ve just completed the 4th week of the second semester, and we are excited about the progress we are making! Our math and reading screening meetings are now complete, and we are shifting our focus toward the goals we have set for this semester.
As part of our continued efforts, we will be keeping our school improvement focus in the area of math. We encourage all families to support their students by practicing math facts or logging onto iXL Math daily for 15 minutes of extra practice. Additionally, all classrooms ask students to continue practicing reading each night, so please keep up with nightly reading at home.
We truly appreciate the extra support you provide to our learners at home. Together, we are a very strong team, and our combined efforts are making a significant difference in the success of our students!
Thank you for your continued partnership!

Recess
Winter temperatures are here! Please ensure your child comes to school dressed for the weather with warm coats, hats, and mittens or gloves. We will send students outside for recess whenever the temperature is above 10°F, as fresh air and exercise are essential for their health and well-being. Thank you for helping us keep our students warm and ready for fun!

Upcoming Events
You're Invited!
Westside Community Schools, WE-SIDE, and Film Streams invite you to join in celebrating Black History Month with a special free screening of the movie Hidden Figures!
Date: February 24, 2025
Location: Film Streams Ruth Sokolof Theater
Doors open: 5:30 PM
Movie starts: 6:00 PM
This powerful film tells the inspiring story of a group of pioneering African-American women who made groundbreaking contributions to aeronautics, astronautics, and played a crucial role in America's victory over the Soviet Union in the Space Race. These women overcame adversity to showcase their brilliance and help shape history. As Margot Lee Shetterly, author of the book Hidden Figures, said "Their goal wasn't to stand out because of their differences; it was to fit in because of their talents."
For more information and to RSVP, see the flyer attached. We look forward to celebrating this important chapter of history with you!
