Welcome to the new school year!
Dear Ben Milam Elementary Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful summer filled with joy and relaxation. As we prepare to start a new school year, I am thrilled to welcome both new and returning faces to our community. I am excited to announce that our construction projects are almost 100% complete, enhancing our learning environment significantly. We were so excited to see you all at Meet the Teacher Night. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect and set the stage for a successful year ahead. Let's make this school year extraordinary together!

Thank you to all the families that joined us for Meet the Teacher night! We hope you had a great time meeting your teachers this year, and that all of your questions were answered.
If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher rosters will be posted on the first day of school, and school staff will be available to assist students in finding their classes.

School Uniforms and Supplies
As the new school year approaches, we want to inform you about the school supply lists for our students. These lists have been carefully curated to ensure a productive and enriching learning experience for everyone. We want to emphasize that your contribution should be based on what you can comfortably afford. If you have any concerns or questions regarding the supply list, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
School Hours, Tardies, and Attendance
IMPORTANT: The school is not responsible for any student left unsupervised before 7:30 am.
School hours are 8:00-3:20pm. Doors open at 7:30 am.
After 8:00am, students will be considered tardy. Students must be escorted in through the entrance on Fitzhugh Ave. and will need to be signed in by their guardian.
Attendance is imperative! Please ensure that your child is at school on time on a daily basis. Excessive tardies may be converted to absences.

Arrival and Dismissal Information
Morning Arrival begins at 7:30am
IMPORTANT: The school is not responsible for any student left unsupervised before 7:30 am.
Important Parking Information:
🚫 No Parking Zones: Due to safety and limited space, we encourage you to utilize the carpool line. Please DO NOT PARK on Fitzhugh or McKinney.
🚗 Carpool Line: Use the designated carpool line for dropping off your students.
DRIVERS: Parents ENTER parking lot via McKinney entrance. Parents drive as far into parking lot as possible and let students out of car (green arrow). Parents will EXIT parking lot through alley (red arrow)
CAR RIDERS & WALKERS: Only students will enter through the playgound gate in the parking lot (white arrow)
BUS RIDERS: Bus riders will enter through McKinney Ave gate (orange arrow)
EARLY ARRIVALS: Students who arrive at 7:30 will report to the GYM and sit with staff until 7:40 (yellow star). At 7:40, all students will procede to their classrooms.
LATE ARRIVAL: All students arriving after 8:00 am MUST be escorted into building through the NEW FRONT DOOR entrance (pink arrow) & must be SIGNED IN BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN.

Afternoon Dismissal begins at 3:20pm
BUS RIDERS: Bus riders will wait in the basement and will be escorted out of the fence to their buses as directed (blue arrows).
CAR RIDERS: All parents MUST PARK to pick-up. Park in parking lot or on street (green arrows). If parking lot is full, please circle the block and return. Parents will EXIT parking lot through alley (red arrow).
PICK-UP: All parents wait at the McKinney gym gate. At 3:25 parents will enter the front gym and exit through the back to pick up their student, exiting the garden gate (orange arrows). Note: Students in lower grades will need to be signed out with their teacher before being dismissed.
LATE PICK-UP: At 3:40 students will be walked into the main building. Late parents will come to the NEW FRONT DOOR entrance (pink arrow) to pick up students, and sign them out.
Dallas ISD Bus Information
Students who ride the bus will escorted out and board the buses on McKinney Avenue.

- If your child receives transportation through Special Education services, that must be arranged through the Special Education Department.
