Family Bulletin
Good evening, Evergreen families!
We have some huge celebrations as our students are working to improve their reading skills! As I participated in data meetings with every teacher this week, I heard about how hard your students are working on their reading skills and how they are moving up reading levels. This is so exciting! As we looked at reading success, we looked at our second goal, to improve our students’ daily attendance at school. For the month of October 54% of our students had 1 or less absences. Currently in November if your student has 3 or less absences, they are demonstrating positive attendance! The goal is to have 9 or less absences in a school year!
As you may have experienced, we have a high number of students who get dropped off in the morning. Please be sure to pull up to the furthest available space in the drop off area, make the drop off efficient, and if you would like to watch your student walk in just pull up to the furthest available space so the cars behind you may pull around and leave. Thank you so much for your assistance in helping to create an efficient and safe drop off area.
Monday, November 18th, will be our hearing and vision screening for all students. Please ensure that if your student utilizes glasses, they have them on this day.
We will have picture retakes on Thursday, November 21st. If you are interested in picture re-takes, please return the packet you received and mark that you would like re-takes.
Our Literacy Night is coming up fast! It will be on November 21st, 5:30-7 pm. This is such a fun night; we serve dinner and provide many activities to improve every student's literacy skills! You will have opportunities to learn activities you may also do at home to support your student in literacy!
After school volleyball for 3rd and 4th grade students is on Tuesdays for 3rd grade students and Thursdays for 4th grade students! Students must complete a registration form to stay after school for volleyball.
Other after school activities are choir on Thursday mornings and our Acceleration Team on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons. There is no transportation for our Acceleration Team in the afternoon.
As our weather is changing, we are discovering students are requesting a change of clothes during the day more often. We are running low in our supply so it may be helpful to have a change of clothes in your students backpack for times when they may get too wet.
Our goals are improving reading skills and attendance! Two ways you can help are reading time at home daily and prioritizing school attendance.
Thank you for being a partner with us in your students' learning! Have a wonderful “Wildcat” weekend!!
