Important Information
Eclipse Guidelines - 4/8/24
The 2024 Great North American Eclipse will happen on Monday, April 8, 2024. In North Carolina, the partial eclipse will begin around 1:58pm and peak at approximately 3:15pm when the moon obscures about 82% of the sun. GHHS staff will not take classes outside to view the Eclipse. However, student dismissal and transportation home will be occurring during the course of the Eclipse so will be viewable by all students and staff.
Wake County Public School student and employee safety is of the utmost importance during this experience. As such, it is important to recognize that it is never safe to look directly at the sunโs rays, even when the sun is partially obscured. When watching a partial eclipse, students and employees must wear ISO certified eclipse glasses at all times if you want to face the sun or use an alternate indirect method of viewing. NASA's How to View the Solar Eclipse Safely provides additional safety guidelines.
