Something to Make You Think or Grow
In every role, we are in the customer service business. What I appreciate about Simon Sinek's message, is that customer service isn't simply giving people what they want. It's making people FEEL like you ACTUALLY CARE. And what makes SHS so special is that people DO care so there is a high level of satisfaction when community members, parents, and any visitor enters SHS.
Cardinal Recognitions
Thank You To:
- Angela Sledge for being recognized at Central Nine as one of their staff members of the month. Angela serves as a DHH interpreter and supports students at C9. Thanks for all that you do for our students!
- Bethany Mendez & Tracy Chupp for organizing the immunization clinic at SHS. Around 100 students were immunized in 1 day!
- Christina Ferguson and the NHS volunteers who helped at Winchester Village's Family Night. Their principal said the kids did a great job leading small learning games, were punctual, encouraging, and were great representatives of SHS!
- Amy Peddie for coordinating with district leadership to expand the number of her work-based learning students who are going to be employeed by SHS. The district is hiring 5 students to work in custodial positions around the district and 4 students to work in grounds positions.
- Erin Ancelet and Bri Osburn for running the trivia night fundraiser for the WRAL team.
- All staff members who have been checking IDs as students enter the building each morning. We are down to just a handful of students at each door who don't have their IDs. Your work is noticed, appreciated and is helping ensure the safety of everyone at SHS!
- Our student services team, school counseling team, and administrative team for running our first hallway sweep during iPass on Friday. I know if takes a little bit of time, but holding students accountable to the expectations early will set the tone throughout the year. We only had 10 students after the passing period who were not where they were supposed to be!
- Mentor teachers for your continued work to support our new(er) teachers and your feedback to continually improve our weekly professional development.

Mrs. Tellas' double block Algebra 1 class played math Jenga during their lab class time. All of the students were working and answering problems based on the block that was selected.
