Hello Bush Families!

Next week is School Counseling Week. Mrs. McGhee and Mrs. Heinle will be hosting "Coffee and Conversation" on February 7, from 9:30-10:30. They will be sharing a little bit about our Bush Counseling Program and we will hear from Tessa Stuckey, guest speaker. Please see the flyer and sign up below in the "Counselor's Corner."

Next Friday is also PTO Family Movie Night. This is a wonderful event and we hope to see everyone there!

If your child is sick or will not be present at school please inform us each day of the absence. To report an absence for your child, please do one of the following:

• Email the registrar – srandall@conroeisd.net with your student’s absence information.
• Call our attendance line at 936-709-1610 and leave a message stating your child’s name, reason for the absence, person reporting the absence, and a phone number.

When your child returns to school, a note explaining the absence should be brought to their teacher or the front office.

If your child is not in attendance at school for the entire day for any reason, the student is considered “absent”. There are basically two types of absences:

1. Excused Absence: an absence is considered "excused" when there is prior parental notification (phone call or email) explaining the absence, or a note from a parent or medical professional upon return to school. Absences can be excused if they are related to illness, medical appointment, a death in the family, or other health related reasons. An excused absence does not remove the absence from the student’s record, but it does document that a student is absent for an excusable reason.
2. Unexcused Absence: an absence is considered “unexcused” when there is no prior parental notification, no note or email sent upon return explaining the absence, for family travel/vacation, or other absences not recognized as "excused" by the district or state.

You can help stop the spread of flu and other illnesses at school by staying home when you are sick. Please be aware of these common signs and symptoms.

If you want to volunteer in any capacity on our campus, you must complete an application to "Volunteer in Conroe ISD." This includes any participation in classroom activities or aiding the teacher. This is a very easy application to complete. You can access the application at:

With the cooler weather the children are now wearing sweaters and jackets. Please remember to label these articles clearly with your child’s name. Also don’t forget to label water bottles, backpacks, and any other personal items. If your child misplaces an item, please remind them to check in the lost and found located in the gym.

Movie Night is right around the corner! Friday, February 9, at Mitchell Intermediate, 6:00pm.

Bring your blankets or lawn chairs, as this will be picnic-style in the Mitchell cafeteria. Food trucks will be on-site for food purchase.

Stop by any time between 11 am and 8:30 pm at Russo's on College Park Drive on February 21 and the restaurant will donate 20% of sales back to Bush.

Our school hours are 8:00-3:10. Students may arrive as early as 7:30 and will go to their homeroom beginning at that time.
