THE WEEK OF AUGUST 12-16, 2024
Welcome Back Mustangs!
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! We are so excited to embark on this adventure with you!
This year, our school theme is Unleash Your Power. Our focus is on empowering students to discover and develop their full potential. We believe in fostering a learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility. Our goal is to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college and beyond.
On the first day of school, our staff, student leaders, and cheerleaders will be on campus to extend a warm welcome. Our Associated Student Body (ASB) officers will also be available to assist with any questions or directions.
We are committed to providing a comprehensive education that encompasses academic excellence, character development, and extracurricular opportunities. Walnut High School offers a vibrant and inclusive community where students can thrive.
As we embark on this new school year, I challenge all students to embrace their potential and contribute positively to our school community.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a successful and rewarding year together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michele Lew
Principal, Walnut High School

Due to numerous problems and safety concerns, we want to remind everyone that student lunches are not allowed to be delivered anywhere on campus. Food, drinks, or other items must not be passed to students through the fence. This is strictly prohibited.
Additionally, outside food delivery services such as Uber Eats and DoorDash are not permitted. Any food deliveries dropped off on campus will be confiscated.

Student Classroom Expectations
As we continue to strive for academic excellence, it’s essential to adhere to the following expectations:
Attendance and Punctuality: You must attend every class, every day, and be on time. Regular attendance is crucial for your success.
Preparedness: Bring all necessary materials to class each day. You will not be excused from class to retrieve forgotten items.
Homework and Classwork: Complete all assignments on time and to the best of your ability. This is vital to your learning and progress.
Behavior: Only behaviors that support the learning environment are acceptable. Respect your classmates, your teachers, and the educational process.
Compliance: Follow all reasonable requests made by any staff member. Cooperation is key to maintaining a positive and productive environment.
Dress Code: The dress code will be enforced. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately according to the school’s guidelines.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters. Let’s work together to create a successful and respectful learning environment.
Attendance Counts
Please remember that attendance counts, every period, every day. Students will be marked absent if they are not present at the beginning of each period to verify their attendance.
All single-period absences will need to be reconciled through the attendance office by the student. If marked absent, student and parent/guardian will receive a notification from the attendance office informing them of the absence. The notification will include the date and period of the absence. The student will need to contact the Attendance Department to make any necessary corrections to their individual period attendance. For full-day absences, a parent/guardian must contact the attendance office by the end of the day.
Attendance Reporting Hotline:
