LCN NEWS

Our first week of school was definitely a unique way to start the year, so we thank you for your patience and understanding. We enjoyed having the students back for a few days, and we look forward to having everyone back in the building on Tuesday. Even in the first couple days, we witnessed our students going out of their way to help each other and encourage one another. There were many moments that made us smile. We are proud of the way our students showed up to start the year, and we are excited to see how they grow and thrive moving forward.

At our Open House, parents have the opportunity to follow their student's schedule to visit all their classes. Parents are encouraged to have a copy/picture of their child's schedule to follow. We will provide schedules if needed, and maps of the building will be available. Pankow teachers will not be present, so parents can visit the school store or wait in the LCN commons during the periods of the Open House when their student would be at Pankow.

We will be having our annual PowderPuff game on Sunday, September 22nd. This is a fun event that kicks off our Homecoming Week. Athletes will need a physical on file to participate. The informational meeting originally scheduled for last week will be held after school on Wednesday, September 4th. Payments for PowderPuff participation can be made online here.

High School North's Homecoming Dance is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th. Tickets are available online right now for $25 and will be sold during lunches next week. Students can also purchase a 2024 Homecoming shirt.

Only seniors may bring an outside guest to the Homecoming Dance. Outside guest forms are now available in the main office. Completed forms must be approved before a ticket can be purchased for an outside guest.

It is our expectation that all students will bring their school-issued Chromebooks to school with them on a daily basis. Personal computers should not be used during the school day. Insurance is available for $23. Additional information regarding device insurance is available below.

The Class of 2025 Senior Sunrise is scheduled for Tuesday, September 3rd at 6:30 am. All seniors are welcome to attend this event. Breakfast will be provided and various activities will help these seniors start the year in a memorable way. The event will take place on the softball field, so students are encouraged to bring a towel or blanket. They may also wear pajamas to school for a special senior only spirit day!

Class of 2025 clothing can be purchased online now! Please use the link to order your spirit gear to remember your final year at LCN.

Comerica Park is hosting a College Recruitment Day on September 12th. LCN counselors will be taking interested students to the recruitment event and baseball game. Please see the attached flyer for additional information about this exciting event.

Senior families can give a "Shout-Out" to their student in the yearbook. Ad information can be found in the flyer below. Please contact Ms. Sanders at sandele@lc-ps.org with any questions you may have.

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional test that will be offered to all juniors on Saturday, October 26th. This standardized exam gives students the opportunity to qualify for national scholarships. The cost of the exam is $15, and payment will be used as registration for this year’s test. The test will be administered at LCN. On test day, registration will begin at 7:30 and the test will take approximately 3 hours. Transportation will not be provided. All payments are final.

The deadline to register is at 9 am on September 13th. Please use the PaySchool link to register and provide payment.

Our freshmen students and new LCN students will receive Chromebooks on Thursday. In order for a student to receive a Chromebook, we must have a Technology Use Form and Device Agreement form on file (9th graders and new students only). In addition, any outstanding fines related to technology must be paid.
