What a great Meet the Teacher! I hope you're as excited about school beginning as we are. A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for decorating the hallway and cafeteria to welcome our students back. This is the 10 year anniversary that Tavola has been open so we are celebrating 10 years strong! We're looking forward to having a fantastic 2024-2025 school year. See you tomorrow!

Please note: Children should not be dropped off prior to 7:45 because there will not be any staff on duty until 7:45. We appreciate your help in ensuring the safety of all our students!

A three-tier start/release time format will allow the district to move to a three-tier transportation system which will create more availability of buses, reduce time spent on buses, and reduce the number of students on buses.

We are excited that the district has added 2 bus routes to the Tavola neighborhood. I apologize for any confusion at Meet the Teacher if we didn't give you the correct information. As soon as we get updates from Transportation, we try to communicate to you as soon as possible. The following streets in Tavola are now routed to a bus:

If your street is listed above, your dismissal options are car rider or bus rider. If a bus is not offered, then your options are car rider or walker/bike rider.

If you have been approved for your Pre-K or Kinder child to be a walker, please remember that an adult must be present for the child to be released. Make sure you have your ID with you for verification. If your Pre-K or Kinder student is walking home with an older sibling, you do not have to be present.

There are 3 ways you can sign your child up to ride the bus. Please know that it takes a couple days to get students routed.

1. Smart Tag (Link to Smart Tag)

• Go to NCISD webpage and click on Transportation (below photo of students)
• Click on Smart Tag Parent Portal.
• If you already have an account, then log in and follow the steps to sign your child up.
• If you don't have an account, create one, then follow the steps to sign your child up.

2. Call Transportation.: 281-577-8680

3. Let's Talk (Link to Let's Talk)

• Go to NCISD webpage and click on Transportation button (below photo of students).
• At the top, click on the blue Let's Talk button.
• Scroll down to Transportation.
• You can click on Questions/Concerns and fill out the form stating you want to route your child to a bus.

All parents MUST have a current year dismissal tag displayed in the window during car rider pick up. Once we've logged your child's name into our dismissal program, keep the pass displayed and DO NOT change lanes.

If you do NOT have a dismissal tag, you will be asked to park, come in to get a dismissal tag, and return to the car rider line. If you did not pick up your dismissal tag at Meet the teacher, please come pick it up in the front office before 3:00pm.

For safety, every student has a backpack tag. These tags are color coded and zip tied to each student's backpack with their name and their teacher's name. With so many students in our building, this helps us quickly identify a student and be able to get them to their correct place. Please make sure your child keeps those tags on their backpack at all times.

Friday, August 9th is designated as Safety Day for all NCISD campuses. On this day our students and staff will be practicing all of our safety drills to ensure students are well informed on what to do in the event of an emergency. Please don't be alarmed if you hear our fire alarm going off on this day. We will frontload and prepare our students for all our drills by reviewing them prior to August 9th.

Tavola will be a closed campus to visitors on this day.

Applications for the NCISD Volunteer program are now open!

The purpose of the volunteer program is to enrich the quality of education for the district’s students by providing opportunities for parents and community members to become actively involved in schools. All prospective volunteers are required to submit a volunteer application and complete a criminal history/background check each year. All volunteers must submit a new application each school year.

At Tavola Elementary, we teach the 7 mindsets! Monthly we will focus our SEL lessons on a mindset. Each month a student from each class will be selected by their teacher that showed qualities of the mindset of the month.

5th graders, need help with homework, assignments, or essay feedback?

Paper, the free online tutoring site for all NCISD students grades 5-12th, is a wonderful resource that can provide students with 24/7 tutoring assistance for any subject. Check out this Link for more information.

All medications must be in the perscription bottle and turned in by a guardian. If your child requires medicine such as Tyleynol or Advil, a doctor's note will now be required.

Parents, please send your child to school every day with their SMART Tag. This tag is necessary to travel on the school bus every day. The SMART Tag is also the preferred method of purchasing their lunches in the cafeteria and checking out books in the library. If your child loses their SMART Tag, you can purchase a replacement at office for $5.

Beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, we welcome you to come and have lunch with your child.

• Visitor must be listed in Skyward to eat with your child.
• You may only eat lunch with your child. Other students may not join you.
• You must eat at the designated parent tables by the cafeteria windows.
• You may not walk your child back to class once lunch is over. Give your hugs and kisses, say goodbye and head to the front.

We would love to celebrate your child's birthday! Celebrations must occur after 3:00pm. All food brought to school must be store bought. You can also order cookies through Child Nutrition! Use this FORM to order.
