MARCH 2019
------------------------------------------------
February 2019 shall be named...
#SNOWMEGEDDON!!!
Wow, what a quick month! Students were in school for 11 &1/2 days AND thankfully ALL were safe! We hope you enjoyed some of the fun that comes with snow, I know my family did! We had the opportunity to join several other Fife families at nearby parks, building snowmen, snow ramps, and zooming down hills with our sleds!
It is true that the month of February brought us much snow, but it also brought us learning and collaboration as a staff. Both Endeavour and Hedden staff spent February 14th, working together on ways to continue to support & implement our newly adopted English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. We are excited about continuing the work and implementing this curriculum with cohesiveness between buildings.
As an Endeavour staff we are continuing to dive into a book study, Conscious Discipline. This book has given us the opportunity to continue professional conversations on how we work with children in the educational setting. It has definitely given me, personally, a different perspective, especially as I grow as a parent and educator! If you so choose to dive into this book or do some research on this topic, I would love to hear your thoughts and welcome further conversations with you.
Additionally, we have spent time examining data by grade level & individual classrooms to work on specific supports and interventions. These interventions help us support not only your child, but our teachers, as we continue to grow and change.
As a district, we administer the STAR assessment 3 times a year in Math & ELA to our students. This assessment was given in February to all students and is used to guide our instruction to best support your child in their learning.
Our 5th Graders and families had the opportunity to attend a Camp Seymour meeting @ Hedden in February. If you have any questions/concerns about the upcoming 5th Grade Camp Seymour opportunity, please be sure to ask your 5th Grade teacher at the upcoming Student Led Conferences, March 13th-15th. During our conferences, Endeavour's fabulous PTO will be holding a Book Fair and will be starting a school-wide Penny Wars! Proceeds go right back into the school additionally allowing PTO to buy books for teachers and the library. Be sure to have your child listen to morning announcements for details!
Our school celebrated 100 Days Smarter on the 22nd of February. We also will be celebrating our PBIS 100's chart being filled on March 13th with a school-wide HAT DAY! As always, we appreciate our Endeavour families and community! Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions and/or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mittelstaedt | Endeavour Principal
