The Core
Its the beginning of the End!
The Center of the Earth
Inside the center of the earth is the core. The core is made up of liquid iron, and liquid nickel.
Global Warming: Can Earth Explode?
-Oceans around Antarctica at depths of 5 km are less salty and less dense confirming that Antarctica is melting from underneath. Also the last few years were the WARMEST ever recorded on Earth.
Different Layers of Earth That Surround The Core
The outer layer of earth is called the crust. Below the crust is the mantle. Below the mantle is the outer core. Below the outer core is the inner core.
The Core of Earth
This picture shows how incredibly hot the core of earth actually is.
Distance Between the Layers of Earth
The crust is roughly 5-25 miles deep. The mantle is about 1,800 miles deep. Followed by the outer core which is said to be 1,400 miles deep. The inner core of earth is roughly 800 miles deep.
Earth's Core Is Hotter Than Originally Thought
Earth's Core is Melting...and Freezing!
The inner core of Earth is simultaneously melting and freezing due to circulation of heat in the overlying rocky mantle.
Different Temperatures
The crust of earth is 0 degree's Celsius, the mantle is 1,000 degree's Celsius, the outer layer is 3,700 degree's Celsius, and the inner core gets up to 4,300 degree's Celsius.
Inner Core of the Earth Spins Faster
The inner core of earth spins extremely fast. So fast that it actually has caused earthquakes.
How Powerful Can the Core Be?
This pictures shows an example that if the core of earth was to erupt someday, how powerful and massive it would be.
