APRIL 10, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Northpoint Families!
It’s been a tough week around Northpoint for our students and staff with the loss of Mark Wallinga. Thank you for your support through this difficult time. Our staff so appreciate the special cards, flowers and emails of support. If your child is struggling with this news, please reach out to someone at school so that we can provide additional support to them.
This Friday, we will have some special guests in the building to perform for our students. Spring Lake Park High School performers will be here to preview the spring musical - “Beauty and the Beast.” The high school musical opens April 19, and if you are interested, tickets can be purchased here. It’s always fun to have our students get a special sneak peek of these performances.
Looks and feels like spring is here. As you start putting away the winter gear and notice something might be missing, please have your child check the lost and found. In the next few days, we will be cleaning up all the winter gear that is currently in there. Thank you for continuing to support your learner and prioritizing their attendance as the weather improves.
Tyler Nelson
Northpoint Principal

Celebrating life with art
Our PTO partnered with the Minneapolis Institute of Art last week to take our 3rd and 4th graders on an Art Adventure. Through the collection ‘Let’s Celebrate Life,' students explored the ways in which people around the world create works of art to commemorate special moments in their lives and how celebrations can bring us all together.
A huge thank you to the Green Pods for hosting the sessions and to our amazing team of volunteers: Susan, Kristin, Maria, Nancy, and Kieren. Please ask your students what they discussed and plan a trip to the institute soon. Admission is always free!
Annual career fair inspires high schoolers to engage and explore
A flurry of activity flowed in and out of the high school’s auxiliary gym for the annual spring career fair. Some students roamed in groups while others opted for one-on-one conversations with targeted career partners. All left with a little more knowledge – and some swag – from career sectors that await them now and in the future.
90+ vendor booths were represented at Spring Lake Park High School’s career fair. Walking through the aisles, students were heard introducing themselves and shaking hands, scanning QR codes to fill out job applications on the spot, and asking questions of career representatives about longer-term future opportunities. All of this is part of practicing first impressions and opening an initial dialogue between students and local organizations.
