Can you believe it's October?! We can't wait to see everyone at our annual, well-loved Pumpkin Pizzazz on October 18th.

The District closing school last Thursday impacted our parent social at Phat Boy Sushi. However, it has been rescheduled for October 10th at 5:30 PM. We can't wait to see you! 🍣

Are you looking for a School Choice for your student for the 2025/26 School Year? Your family is invited to the Magnet Programs Expo on October 10, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Nova Southeastern University in the Rick Case Arena at Don Taft University Center.

Magnet Programs are available in Broward County Public Schools for elementary, middle, and high school students. There will be representatives for roughly 80 programs at the event but be sure to stop by the Fort Lauderdale Zone booths to learn more about the award-winning programs our zone schools have to offer. Wilton Manors Elementary's IB program, Sunrise Middle and Virginia Shuman Young's Montessori programs, and Fort Lauderdale High's Cambridge International and Pre-Law & Public Affairs programs offer students a rigorous, well-rounded education with many extended learning and extracurricular opportunities. Join us at this free, exciting event with your family. Stop by anytime between 6-8 p.m. There will be displays and interactive activities available. 🕔Early Dismissals

Per School Board Policy, no student dismissals can take place between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. Please be mindful that like tardies, minutes students miss school can add up to full days missed. Please reserve picking up students early for emergencies.

🚘Change of Dismissal

All changes of dismissal must be made through CurbSmart by 1:00 pm. To create a parent account, you will need our school code 5305.

⏰Tardies

Students must be in their seats at 8:00 AM and ready to learn. Starting 8/26/2024, students not in their seats at 8:00 AM will receive a tardy. An accumulation of UV tardy minutes may lead to full day absences. It is Florida State Law that all students must be in school every day.

🍎Snack

Snack time is a daily part of our schedules. A snack is a small amount of food eaten between meals. Students may bring in a hand-held item like crackers, a bag of chips, string cheese or a piece of fruit. Items that require a utensil or dipping will be saved for lunch. We strongly encourage healthy snacks for our students.

🎈Birthdays

A child’s birthday is a very special time. We afford parents the option to provide a treat such as store-bought cupcakes or an individually wrapped snack for the class to celebrate this special day. However, we do not accept goody bags or balloons in the classroom.

🪀Toys

With the generous donation of recess equipment from HSA, students have everything they could want or need for recess. Please do not allow children to bring in any outside toys, cards, or items from home that can distract from their learning.

👔Uniforms

We are a uniform school and uniforms must be worn daily. Our school uniform is a solid red or white collared polo and solid navy bottoms. Students may also wear a solid navy dress. Harbordale T-Shirts are reserved for Fridays only. Students must also wear closed-toed shoes daily. Please no black or khaki.

🧃Items from Home

Items forgotten and brought in late to school (lunchboxes, sweaters, water bottles) will brought to students during lunch time to minimize classroom disruptions.

😷Absences

If a student is absent due to a vacation, a special event, etc., assignments will not be available in advance. All missed worked will be provided upon returning to class. Students will be given 2 days for every day absent to complete the assignments. Please notify the front office via our online form, written note, or phone. DOJO notifications to classroom teacher will not excuse any absences. Click the link below to report your child's absence:

We need your help. Regular attendance is a key factor in a child's academic success. Regular attendance is when a student attends more than 95% of the academic school year; this may include up to 8 absences in a 180-day school year.

In addition, tardies are a major concern. Each day we are seeing a large number of tardy students. A tardy student is NOT in their seat in the classroom when the 8:00 a.m. rings is considered tardy. Please plan to arrive on campus by 7:55 a.m. We start instruction promptly at 8:00 a.m. Your support and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you know? Our school has a weekly goal for all students to complete 30 minutes on iReady Reading and Math and to pass 1 lesson each week!

The Applied Learning Department is hosting the 3rd Annual Magnet Expo on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nova Southeastern University. All magnet schools are expected to attend and represent their programs. This event aims to showcase our engaging thematic magnet programs and attract students from outside BCPS. It is a great opportunity to highlight our schools and demonstrate to parents why BCPS is the best choice for their child.
