After two days of intense competition, the VHSL Class 1 Indoor Track and Field State Championship has concluded with the Galileo boys finishing in second place by a mere two points in an absolute nail-biter and with the girls finishing in fifth place.

Daniel Roman, Luke Bryant, James Kemp, and Na’Tevis (TK) Toney dominated the 4x400 meter relay and earned a state championship win, along with a new school record. Rayniyah Stamps, Danilu Acevedo-Garcia, Maya Herndon, and Ava Garcia each put together impressive performances and ran away with the 4x800 meter relay and the state championship. One win wasn’t enough for Maya who also picked up the victory in the grueling 3200 meter run.

State medalists include the Class 1 Boys Meet MVP TK Toney (2nd high jump, 2nd triple jump, 2nd 500m dash, 3rd long jump, 3rd in 300m dash), Thomas Hungarland (2nd pole vault), Ava Garcia (2nd 1000m run), Daniel Roman (4th 1000m run), Luke Bryant (4th pole vault), Samaj Marshall (5th 55m hurdles), Rayniyah Stamps (6th 300m dash), and James Kemp (6th 300m dash.

In addition to the individual medals, the girls 4x400m relay team (Rayniyah Stamps, Danilu Acevedo-Garcia, Maya Herndon, and Ava Garcia) finished third, and the boys 4x800m relay team (Barak Tahirkhali, Donnovan Perez, Luke Bryant, and Daniel Roman) finished 4th.
