News and Notes for Parents at Plymouth North
Our kids are busy at PNHS!
It's been a busy few weeks at Plymouth North! Our Winter Sports teams wrapped up a big season with several school and state records broken, several entries into the MIAA State Tournament, and lots to celebrate! Our DECA and Student Council traveled to state competitions and returned with some impressive student successes and amazing awards. Each of our grades have had upbeat, informative, inspiring class meetings encouraging them to get involved in school and re-invest in making a strong academic push in these final few months of the year.
Most importantly, all of our students are digging in academically for significant gains in learning growth across all our classes. From every corner of the building, teachers are unveiling some of their most impressive lessons that challenge student thinking and push them to take risks in their learning, and students are setting themselves up to make some impressive progress in lots of ways at PNHS.
Still on the horizon are all the events, pomp, circumstance and celebration of the next few months. Hadestown, our musical put on by the PN Players opens tonight and is also tomorrow... be there! Next Monday, Spring sports begin! Later this month and beyond, our students will engage in MCAS, AP tests and several major assessments that will serve as an important benchmark. Then, we will all gather as a community to celebrate and send off an amazing group of leaders in our Senior Class.
Things are looking up and getting great here at PNHS! Check out all the things to celebrate, know and be ready for below... and get excited!
Go Eagles!

2. What are teachers at North working on?
We are very lucky at North: Our educators don't just work hard during their precious minutes in the classroom, they are skilled educators who apply a career's worth of experience and training to deliver an ever improving product that is focused on feedback, research and assessment of results beyond the school day all the time.
Already this year, our staff has dedicated hours to several areas we hope will improve the experience school-wide for students, but also in their classrooms. Here's what we've been working on outside the typical classroom environment:
- ALICE Training: Drill and Debrief: We held a school wide ALICE lockdown drill this month, collaborated with Plymouth Police during and after the drill to identify strengths and needs, and reviewed and debriefed our lockdown and ways to improve at our most recent Faculty Meeting.
- CPR Training: Our Nurse Educators held a CPR training for our staff, including the faculty members of our crisis response team to refresh their training.
- English Language Learner Strategies: Teachers and the district have begun to partner with outside groups with expertise in best practices for EL students in order to identify successes and find additional strategies to support students for improved attendance and learning growth.
- College Board AP Test Readers: Several of our teachers were selected by the National College Board to be AP Readers and help grade assessments nationwide!
3. Hadestown Opens Tonight and Tomorrow!
4. Senior Dates and Information
Just yesterday, we had a Senior Class meeting with all our seniors and sent out a bunch of information on ordering, save the dates and expectations for Seniors for all the events leading up to graduation. It's hard to believe but there are only 49 more days for Seniors!
Check out the information below:

Tickets are being sold online via Go Fan this year, and go on sale starting March 31st at 7am. ALL STUDENTS NEED A UNIQUE CODE PERSONALIZED TO THEM TO ORDER THEIR TICKETS ONLINE.
Tickets are $90 each during our "Early Bird" sale dates of Monday, March 31st, 7am until Friday, April 18th, 2pm. After April 18th, tickets are $100 until ticket sales close on May 1st at 2pm.

Guests from outside the Junior Class and PNHS are allowed, but must attend as the guest of a Junior. Guests from outside PNHS are required to complete and turn in a form to attend, and prior to getting a code for the Junior to buy their ticket. To order Early Bird tickets with guests, students should turn in the guest forms to Ms. Goldberg in Room 300 between March 24th - March 28th.
Please refer to the document attached for all the processes and guidelines for Junior Prom Ticket Ordering.
6. ELA MCAS for Grade 10: March 25th & March 26th
While MCAS has been eliminated as a requirement to graduate from high school, MCAS is still being administered to all students as usual.
All Grade 10 students are scheduled to take ELA MCAS on Tuesday, March 25th and Wednesday, March 26th at the start of the school day. Testing is important both for you and your child to understand their progress and learning growth as compared to others and to themselves in prior years, as well as for us to understand better how we are performing as a school for students and compared to other schools.
We encourage all our sophomores to be in school, on time on both March 25th and March 26th. We offer free breakfast for all students in the cafeteria every day, so feel free to send them in early on testing days to be ready and at their best!

The Plymouth North High School DECA Chapter returned home triumphant on Saturday, March 1,
from the 66th annual Mass. DECA Conference in Boston with 26 students qualifying for

53 Plymouth North students joined over 4,000 students, advisors, and business

executed by the DECA officer team. We had six officers earn leadership spots: Jake Turchinetz,

As part of the project, Interactors and members of the Sunrise Rotary Club filled 20 "welcome kit" bags full with all the essentials new dog owners or fosters will need in an effort to defray the upfront costs of taking in a new pet. Bags will be donated to Buddy and Friends in Pembroke.
