A Whale of a Time
This past week our 5th grade students had the opportunity to visit the Whaling Museum in New Bedford. Students learned about the history of whaling, their importance to the local economy, as well as the structure and adaptations of the whale.
Thank you to the PTA for their support of this field trip.

Rock Your Socks
Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!
Together we will create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome in our schools, community, and around the world. 3/21, World Down Syndrome Day, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which is Down syndrome.
Staff and students are encouraged to celebrate World Down's Syndrome Day on March 21st by wearing mismatched socks!

Volunteers Needed
Young Mariners
You may already be familiar with the Young Mariner Program at the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, but we’ve made some exciting changes this year—including expanding to a full-day program. This hands-on summer experience is designed for rising 4th–7th graders, allowing kids to explore boating, marine science, conservation, and Cape Cod’s maritime world through engaging STEM activities and on-the-water adventures.
Most importantly, we are committed to making this program accessible to all families by offering:
- Scholarships for those who need financial assistance
- Cape Cod resident discounts to support local families
- A welcoming and inclusive environment, regardless of prior boating experience
