This is Mr. Hawkins, Principal of Viers Mill Elementary School (VMES), with our weekly Sunday message. Please remember that there is no school for students on Thursday, October 3. Please read through our message below with reminders about completing free and reduced-price meals applications, login information for this Tuesday's Virtual PTA Meeting, and more!

Free and Reduced-Price Meals Applications

Families who would like to apply for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS) can complete forms online (by clicking HERE). Please try to complete these today, September 29, as we want MCPS to have accurate data for our school community that may help us qualify once again for Title I funding to provide more resources and staffing for our school. Forms should be completed by all families who have children in our PEP, Prekindergarten, and K-5th Grade programs. For assistance completing FARMS applications, please contact us at (240)740-1000.

Virtual PTA Meeting on Tuesday, October 1

Join us online for our monthly Virtual Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting (in English and Spanish) on Tuesday, October 1 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. During this meeting, Ms. Lee and Mr. Hawkins will provide updates to our school community and answer any questions you may have. Requesting Technology for Home Use

Did you know that MCPS will once again provide FREE Chromebooks and/or MiFi (wireless internet) devices for students to use at home? In addition to utilizing these devices for homework purposes, there is a possibility that MCPS will need to transition to virtual instruction for any predictable, multi-day scenarios. If you would like to request a FREE Chromebook for your child, please click HERE or e-mail your child's teacher. If you would like to request a MiFi internet device, please call our school (240-740-1000) or e-mail Ms. Schmidt, our administrative secretary, at Laurie_A_Schmidt@mcpsmd.org.
