Principle's Note
Dear Otter Families,
Wow, what an amazing first week we've had at school! Our little otters have been absolute superstars, showing the Otter Way: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Kind with flying colors. Our dedicated teachers have been nothing short of incredible, helping our students get to know each other, understand the Otter Way, dive into the 7 Habits, and develop a real love for reading and math.
One of our big goals this year is to keep you in the loop every week. So, every Friday, be on the lookout for our school-wide newsletter. It's your go-to source for upcoming events, highlights from our special classes, updates from our Parent Leadership Team (SCO), attendance info, volunteer opportunities, and community happenings.
But wait, there's more! Your child's teacher will also be sending out a grade-level newsletter each week. These newsletters will give you a sneak peek into what our otters are learning in literacy, math, and social-emotional development. Plus, you'll get the lowdown on grade-level celebrations, upcoming events, and all the contact information from the fantastic grade-level classroom teachers.
You might notice that some of our grade-level newsletters are available in different languages. We're doing this because we want every family to have access to school info, no matter what language you speak. We're using some nifty Artificial Intelligence software for translations, but we'll admit, it's not perfect. If you spot any translation quirks, don't hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher for clarification.
And remember, this Smore school newsletter can be translated into many languages too. Just click the translation bar and pick your preferred language.
Thanks again for an incredible week. Wishing you and your family an awesome weekend ahead.
Un abrazo,
Mrs. Bell
A Note from our Associate Principal
Dear Meadow View Caregivers & Families,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. I wanted to email families to share some exciting personal news. My family and I are expecting a new addition, and I will be taking maternity leave starting in early-mid September.
During my absence, Ms. Caitlyn Fahsel will be stepping in as the acting Associate Principal/Student Services Coordinator. Ms. Fahsel is highly experienced, has been a special education teacher at Meadow View since it opened, and is dedicated to maintaining the high standards of education and care that our school community values. I have full confidence that Ms. Fahsel will provide excellent leadership and support to our students, staff, and families during this time. Additionally, Ms. Melissa Quinton will be supporting students from Ms. Fahsel’s caseload during this time of transition. Ms. Quinton has been a building sub in our building for the past two years and has built very strong relationships with many students and staff members. She is the perfect addition to our team.
I am grateful for the support and understanding of our school community as I continue to grow my personal family. If you have any questions or concerns during my leave, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Fahsel or Mrs. Bell. They will be more than happy to assist you or point you in the right direction.
I look forward to returning to my role in early December and continuing to work together to support your students' growth and success. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Earhart

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures Starting September 9
Hello 4K parents,
We extend our heartfelt thanks for joining us at our Open House on Wednesday. It was a pleasure meeting you, and we are thrilled to welcome your little otters next Monday.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, we have thoroughly reviewed safety guidelines with our 4K staff and Director, in alignment with the district's procedures for arrival and dismissal.
For the safety and well-being of all our students, it is imperative that:
** All parents must PARK in the designated parking lot ** and proceed to ** DOOR #1** to either drop off or pick up their 4K students. For safety reasons, children cannot walk to the car with their siblings, and older siblings cannot escort their 4K siblings to Ms. Ali.
In summary: as caregivers, you are required to drop off and pick up your 4K students every day at Door 1.
** Parents are kindly requested to park in the designated parking lot ** and refrain from using the drop-off and pick-up line.
Please not that this message is not for students who take the bus.
We understand that this may pose some inconvenience for some of you. However, please rest assured that as as school district, our foremost priority is the safety and security of every single one of our students.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a secure and nurturing environment for all our young learners.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Bell

New CDC Guidelines
From Nurse Robbin
Parents and Caregivers,
There have been some changes this summer from the CDC with new guidelines for when your child is sick and should stay home from school. Please see the following:
CDC Guidance
If someone has the following symptoms, they should stay home because their illness could affect their ability to participate in the school and there is concern that they might spread an infection to staff and other students.
- Fever over 100.4 or higher, and/or fever with a new rash
- Vomiting more than twice in the preceding 24 hours
- Diarrhea that causes "accidents", bloody, or results greater than 2 bowel movements above what the student normally experiences in a 24 hour-hour period.
- Skin sores that are draining fluids on an uncovered part of the body and are unable to be covered with bandages.
- Respiratory virus symptoms that are worsening or not improving and not better explained by other causes such as seasonal allergies.
The timeline for when a student can return depends on the nature of the illness. In general, a student returning to school should be well enough to participate in school (can adequately manage improving cough and congestion on their own and not overly fatigued) and care of the returning student should not interfere with the school staff's ability to teach or care for other students.
Parents and caregivers should consult their child healthcare providers with specific questions about their child's condition or recovery.
For the general symptoms described on the stay-at-home-when-sick section, policies can allow return to the school setting when:
- Student has no fever and is not using fever-reducing medicine for at least 24 hours.
- Fever with a new rash has been evaluated by a healthcare provider and fever and resolved.
- Uncovered skin sores are crusted and the student is under treatment from their provider.
- Vomiting has been resolved overnight and the child can hold down food/liquids in the morning.
- Diarrhea has improved, the student is no longer having accidents or is having bowel movements no more than 2 above normal per 24 hours period for the child. Bloody diarrhea should be evaluated by a healthcare provider prior to return.
- Respiratory virus symptoms are getting better overall for at least 24 hours.
Thank you for your assistance to help keep our students healthy throughout the school.
Statement of Nondiscrimination

Birthday Treat Guidelines
We wanted to provide some guidelines regarding birthday treats and appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the well-being and inclusivity of all students. Please take a moment to review the following reminders:
Accessibility and Allergies: When bringing in birthday treats, please ensure that the food labels are easily accessible to Kelsey and Madhu, our staff members at the front desk, who are responsible for allergy awareness. This allows them to check for any potential allergens that may affect students in the class.
Individually Packed Items: We kindly request that you consider providing individually packed items for birthday treats. This helps with portion control and ensures convenience for distribution. Individually packaged treats also minimize the risk of cross-contamination and promote cleanliness.
Non-Food Treats: We encourage you to explore the option of non-food treats for birthdays. Non-food items can be equally enjoyable and are a great way to celebrate while accommodating various dietary preferences and restrictions. Examples include small toys, stickers, pencils, or bookmarks.
No Class-Wide Food Items: To maintain a balanced and inclusive approach, we kindly ask that you refrain from providing class-wide food items such as pizzas or hot dishes. This helps prevent any potential disruptions to the regular meal routine and ensures that dietary restrictions are respected.
No Balloons: While we understand that balloons are often associated with celebrations, we kindly request that you refrain from bringing balloons to school. This is to maintain a safe and distraction-free environment for all students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following these guidelines. By working together, we can create inclusive celebrations that ensure the well-being of every student. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
There is no cell phone usage during school hours. Please click here to review the policy.
