833 Young Scholars

Happy December Everyone!

The month is already flying by, winter break is just around the corner, and the new year is only weeks away, While this time of year can be pretty busy, it also brings a great opportunity for your Young Scholar to pause, reflect back on their learning, and set goals for the year ahead.

To help get things started, this month we'll be taking a little break from the NAGC brochure to explore some favorite resources for reflection and goal setting. Hopefully, these resources can help spark a conversation and inspire your Young Scholar to look toward the future and dream big!

Learning how to reflect back on the past and set goals for the future are important skills that can help your Young Scholar take charge of their own learning and potential. The resources below are examples of ways to help your Young Scholar develop their growth mindset, imagine and create positive goals for themselves, and take action to make their dreams possible.

The Big Life Journal website is packed full of kid-centered ideas and products that are perfect for growth mindset reflection and goal setting. The site includes resources for a wide variety of ages and interests. There are products for purchase, but you can also find many free ideas in the Podcast, Freebies, and Blog sections of the site.

The Seesaw app used in your child's classroom is a great way to look back with your Young Scholar at their progress in school and help them set goals for what they would like to accomplish in the year ahead.

Hi All!

My name is Colleen Redmond, and I am thrilled to work as the 833 Young Scholars advocate and lead teacher.

I'm a mom of two teenagers, a wife, small business owner, avid biker (the pedal kind), book enthusiast, and beekeeper. Plus, on top of all of that, I have the happy job of implementing and growing the Young Scholars program here in 833!

I've been lucky enough to teach in South Washington County Schools for over twenty-five years and have had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the lives of so many students and families over the years.

Now, as part of Young Scholars, I have the honor of working with the amazing staff, students, and families throughout 833. I am so very excited to work with and support you and your Young Scholar. I can't wait to see where the journey takes us!
