Mark Your Calendars- PSSA's Are Around the Corner!
It’s not too early to begin to think about the PSSA Exams. Please try not to schedule any appointments around this time frame. Students may not leave a test session once it has begun; if you need to pick up a student on the testing days, you will be asked to wait until the test session has ended.
- The Language Arts PSSA will be administered to all grades on April 22nd, 23rd and 24th.
- The Math PSSA will be administered to all grades on April 28th and 29th.
- The Science PSSA will be administered to the 8th Grade only on April 30th.
- Make-up testing sessions will be administered through May 9th
Students who arrive late or miss any sections will be required to make up all missed portions; this will likely result in missing regularly scheduled classes.
- The PSSA is not a timed test. Students are encouraged to answer thoroughly and to take time to review their responses before submitting each section of the assessment.
- Electronic devices including cell phones, smart watches, Fitbits, AirPods, and Kindles are NOT permitted!
- Be sure all iPads are fully charged for this test!

Chester County Science Research Competition
Great Valley Middle school students receive top honors at the Chester County Science Research competition at West Chester University. Om Gagrani was awarded first place in computer science in the middle school division. His project on utilizing artificial intelligence and convolutional neural networks for early lung detection captured the eyes of the judges and he received third place for best of show out of all middle school projects. Om will be moving on to compete at the Delaware Regional Science Fair.
Ryan Joseph will also be joining Om at the regional fair after receiving a prestigious first place award in the earth and space in the middle school division. Ryan’s project focused on what impacts astronomical visibility. Sravan Mateti’s flame test project received the Kenneth P. Lehman Lehmans Terms Memorial Award for physical science. Sravan also received a $50 gift card.
These students pursued inquiry- based science through problem-solving, planning and conducting research investigations, and using appropriate tools to gather and analyze data. Good luck in the Delaware Regional fair.
