Ducks Update
Back to School Edition
November 14, 2024
A Note from Ms. de Boom-Howard
Davis Duck Families,
Thank you for joining us for our special Veterans Day Flag Deck. It was wonderful to come together as a community to honor and celebrate the service and sacrifices of our veterans. Thank you all so much for your support and collaboration in making this event a success. Your presence helped make the event meaningful not only for the Veterans but for our students, who were able to learn about and show appreciation for those who have served our country.
We are excited about starting to develop a series of parent training sessions where we can learn together as well as get to know others in our Davis community. As we start to shape these offerings, we would appreciate your input to make sure we select programming that would be beneficial for our families. Please take a moment to complete this brief survey.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community!
Take care,
Stacy de Boom-Howard

CORE Value of the Week
Core Value: Be Responsible for Everything You Say
Our words carry weight. At our Davis, we value communication that is honest, thoughtful, and intentional. Taking responsibility for what we say means understanding the impact of our words on others and striving to uplift, support, and encourage. Let's each commit to using our voice to build trust and strengthen our community with integrity.

Important Information
Davis Learning Garden Update
If you have been on campus, you may have seen some progress in our Davis Learning Garden. We are working on our next phase of filling the planter beds with soil. If you happen to be at a garden store over the weekend, we would appreciate soil donations, so Eco Club can start filling them on Tuesday. Soil donations can be dropped off at the office starting on Monday. Thank you for helping us grow our Davis Learning Garden!
Important Reminder: Last-Minute Pick-Up Arrangements
The front office is often very busy, especially as we prepare for dismissal. Please call the office before 2:30 to ensure messages get to students. This allows us to manage the transitions between classrooms and avoid any delays in relaying messages.
Food Sharing
As we prioritize the safety and well-being of all our students, we would like to remind you to kindly reinforce with your child the importance of not sharing outside food while at school. It's crucial to note that our supervisors are closely monitoring adherence to this policy. This measure is in place to ensure the health and safety of all students, taking into consideration various allergies and dietary restrictions. Lunch is available free of charge and if there is a dietary restriction please reach out to the health office to fill out a meal accommodation plan.
Exciting Volunteer Opportunities - Make sure to apply as a volunteer
Davis is delighted to have so many exciting classroom events, field trips, and activities coming up! To make sure everything runs smoothly, please complete your volunteer application in advance. Our office is happy to assist with any questions you may have so there are no delays on the day of your child's upcoming opportunities.
Battery Recycling
It’s time for Costa Mesa Sanitary District’s Battery Recycling Contest! Each year, schools collect batteries for recycling and earn money for their school at the same time! Please help us by sending in your used batteries to add to the box.
Breakfast and Lunch Menus
Breakfast and lunch continue to be free for all students. Please review the menus with your children for days they want to get lunch from our cafeteria. You can also set up an automatic email to have them emailed each week!!
