Spring is in the air!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we welcome the arrival of spring, excitement fills the air at Jenison High School! The longer days and warmer temperatures bring a renewed energy to our students as they dive into a busy season of activities. Our spring musical promises to showcase the incredible talents of our students, while our athletic teams prepare for an exciting schedule of competitions. From track meets to baseball, softball, soccer, and more, we look forward to cheering on our student-athletes as they represent our school with pride. The changing seasons also mark an important academic push, with students preparing for upcoming assessments (PSAT/SAT), AP exams, and the final stretch of the school year.
Looking back, we are so proud of a fantastic winter season, both in and out of competition. Our winter sports teams demonstrated outstanding effort and sportsmanship, bringing home league championships, individual honors, and some preparing to compete at the state level this week. Just as important, our students and community came together in inspiring ways through events like Senior Survivor and our annual Pink Out, raising funds for those impacted by cancer and supporting those in need in our community. These moments highlight the heart of Jenison a place where excellence, kindness, and teamwork shine. Thank you for your continued support in making JHS such a special place. We look forward to an exciting and memorable spring ahead!
Go Wildcats!

Choir Trip to Toronto!
Students wowed audiences with two performances, a clinic at the University of Michigan - Flint, and a serenade to visitors of the Royal Ontario Museum. Their time in Toronto was packed with adventure, including visits to St. Lawrence Market, the Eaton Centre, and the CN Tower, plus dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory followed by viewing the hit Broadway musical, The Lion King.
In Niagara, they dined in style at the Skylon Tower with breathtaking views of the falls, then wrapped up their journey with fun at Great Wolf Lodge. Even crossing the border was eventful—students from one of the buses gave an impromptu performance for the U.S. border patrol!
An international experience from start to finish—Congratulations, JHS Choir!

HS Spring Musical - Seussical
(Tickets can be purchased at jpsarts.com)
Join Jenison High School Theatre as we lovingly bring to life all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. This show is a can't-miss for the entire family!

Juniors
All JHS juniors will take the SAT in April. For students who are college-bound, merit scholarships (based on high school GPA and SAT score) make up some great potential scholarships, so taking the SAT seriously is important.
Juniors who have taken Decisions have already logged into Khan Academy to prepare for the SAT... we encourage students to spend some time preparing for the test to ensure they do their best by using Khan Academy and the JHS SAT prep opportunities to prepare.
Seniors
53% of seniors have completed their FAFSA and earned their $25 Amazon gift card! Seniors will continue to earn their gift cards by completing their FAFSA by May 9 (the last day for seniors). Need help with the FAFSA? Check out this step-by-step guide!
Decision Day is May 1! We look forward to celebrating ALL seniors and their post-JHS plans on this day.
A reminder that once a college-bound student decides where they will attend next year, they should log into their FAFSA and change that school to the first school in their list.
Semester 2 grades DO MATTER! Quarter 3 grades are calculated into graduation honors and seniors will send their final transcript to their future school at the end of the semester.

2nd offense - Turned into office. End of day return.
3rd offense - Turned into office. End of day PARENT PICKUP.
4 (and subsequent) offense - Progressive Discipline (ISS, OSS etc)
Attendance/Appointment Call-In Process:
Help us minimize classroom disruption during instructional time
Regular attendance is crucial to success in school. Parents, if your student misses school, please be sure to call our attendance line (616-457-3400, option 1) to excuse the absence prior to the start of the school day. If your student has an appointment during the school day and needs to be dismissed from classes, please call the office before the start of the school day and leave this information on the attendance line. By following this process, it will avoid disruption of staff calling into classrooms during instructional time for students to come to the office to sign out. Calling in prior to the start of the school day, the attendance office can provide your student with a pass to leave at the requested time. We greatly appreciate your help with this process.
Reminder: New Feature - Submit attendance through PowerSchool
Student Pickup
Parents, please help your student(s) make plans for after school. Students not participating in a club, activity, or sport should ride a bus home or be picked up after school by 3:30 p.m. to avoid unstructured and unsupervised time in the building.
Thank you!
